Be The Church: November 15, 2022
Dear Friends in Christ,
This Sunday is Thanksgiving Sunday. Following our morning worship service we'll be discussing "honoring creation" in Living The Questions. Then at 4 PM we'll gather at Tryon Estates for our Community Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service. Also, don't forget that Poinsettia orders are due on November 20th.
As a reminder, this year our church is fulfilling 50 Angel Tree requests through Outreach, as a way of bringing some joy this Christmas to children, families, and seniors in our community. As of Sunday we have 4 cards left. If you can't get to the church, but would like an Angel Tree card, please email Pastor Meghan, and we will assign you how ever many your request. Additionally, we have unaccounted cards - if you took one and forgot to fill out the sign-up sheet, please notify the church office. Angel Tree cards are due back by November 27th.
Please find more information below about:
- Poinsettia Order Form: Deadline is November 20th
- Advent Wreath Making & Greening of The Church: Mark you calendars!
- Ministry Team, Worship, & Volunteer Sign-Up: Advent Liturgists Needed

You can find a recording of this past Sunday's worship service on our website and YouTube page. You can also support the ministries of our church, by giving online, or mailing in your contribution. Let us be the church as we love and serve our neighbors.
Faithfully,
Pastor Meghan
PS: We could use your help in solving a mystery. A pink hoverboard was mailed to our church with no card or indication of who sent it. Did you send it? If so, please contact Pastor Meghan.

Sunday, November 27, 2022
Following Worship
Prepare for the season of Advent by making an Advent wreath with fresh greenery. We’ll also be decorating the inside and outside of the sanctuary following worship. For Advent Wreath making, wreath forms and candles will be provided. Bring some clippers and fresh evergreens from your yard to share. Please sign up to make a wreath here.

Ministry Team, Worship, & Volunteer Sign-Up
We welcome all in our congregation, regardless of membership or age, to participate in worship leadership and Ministry Teams. Contact the church office for more information about any of the opportunities below.
|
|
Advent Liturgists Needed: As part of this year’s Advent theme, From Generation to Generation, there is a strong focus on multi-generational gatherings and liturgies, which we’re really excited about. In particular for our advent candle lighting each week we need a child, teenager, adult, and older adult to help lead the liturgy. If you fall into one of those categories and would like to participate in the liturgy during Advent, please contact Pastor Meghan so we can prepare.

Pic of the Week
A look into the life of the church
What a difference a year of hard work makes! The picture on the left is the historical woodland behind the church taken last Saturday, November 12, 2022. The picture on the right was a year ago, October 2021, when the area was over run with kudzu and invasive plants. The Building and Grounds Team and Creation Care Team have been working hard over the past year to clean up the area. Take a look out back and see for yourself!

Do you have a picture of something that you would like to share with the Congregation? Email it to Lindsay and we can share it as our pic of the week and continue to stay connected with each other.

We'll be needing volunteers, but more importantly, bring your family and friends.

Notes From The Church Dog
Because somebody has to run this church...

|
Advent is a season of waiting and preparing, so right now I guess we're preparing to prepare. This week I managed the sprucing up of our Christmas decorations in anticipation of our annual "Greening of the Church" as we kick off Advent on November 27th. Many thanks to Ginny Rostick, on our Worship & Arts team, who has been helping us prepare! My hope for all of you this season, whether you are preparing, or preparing to prepare, is that you take time to remember what it's all for, and find some joy and peace in it all.
Wishing you all the toys and pets,
Wally
