Centre for Digital Life Norway – message from the centre leaders

Dear all,

The 7th annual Digital Life conference in Trondheim brought together international speakers, workshops and panel discussions, DLN projects, and excellent poster presentations. Thank you all to those who made this year’s conference a memorable one! Save the date 6-8 September 2023 for the next Digital Life conference near Bergen!
 
There is still time to sign up for our December Software Carpentry course for those who would like to learn fundamental research computing skills. DLN has also just opened for submissions of candidates for the second year to the DLN FAIR data award, which will reward outstanding examples of life science researchers in Norway who have managed their data according to the FAIR principles. And the DLN Transdisciplinary Publication Award will highlight publications that have reached beyond traditional academic boundaries and included non-academic perspectives. Digital frukost: AI and responsible research and innovation in health decision-making

We would like to thank all participants and contributors to the annual Digital Life 2022 conference in Trondheim!


This year's theme was how to work transdisciplinary in biotechnology, and we got exposed to many good examples on how this can be done. We also had insightful workshops and a poster session back by popular demand this year.

Voters’ Choice Poster Award – Digital Life 2022

We congratulate the joint winners of the Voters’ Choice Poster Award at the Digital Life 2022 conference: Léa Rosselle (Postdoc, Oslo University Hospital) and Anum Masood (Postdoc, NTNU)!

New project joins Centre for Digital Life Norway:  FINALphagy

Project leader Helene Knævelsrud has secured an ERC starting grant for her project, FINALphagy and have now become an official member of Centre for Digital Life Norway. FINALphagy - Final act of autophagy symphony: Whole organism orchestration of autophagy termination starts up in January 2023.

Call for nominees: DLN Transdisciplinary publication of the year award 2022

By offering our prize for the best transdisciplinary publication of the year for 2022, the Centre for Digital Life Norway is putting the spotlight on transdisciplinary research efforts in life science! The deadline for nominating publications is January 31st, 2023.

Call for candidates: The DLN FAIR data award 2022

The Centre for Digital Life Norway encourages open science and FAIR data management. For the second time, we are highlighting and rewarding outstanding examples of life science researchers in Norway who have managed their data according to the FAIR principles. The deadline for nominating candidates is January 31st , 2023.

Call: Support for Digital Life Norway cross-project activities

We are pleased to announce that all DLN projects again have the opportunity to apply for support for cross-project activity. Deadline for application is January 13th, 2023.

Open call for Digital Life Norway project membership

Digital biotechnology projects in health, aquaculture, agriculture, and industrial biotechnology are invited to apply to join DLN 2.0! Selected projects will have access to support from the dedicated DLN team and will contribute to synergies, innovation, and knowledge-sharing with other research projects in the centre and the research school. Applications will be evaluated on a continuous basis.

Julemøte Tromsø: New tools for your science! Advanced microscopy and nanomicrofluidics

NTVA i samarbeid med Norges arktiske universitet (UiT), Centre for New Antibacterial Strategies (CANS), Norsk Biokjemisk Selskap og Centre for Digital life Norway inviterer til fagmøte i Tromsø, tirsdag 6. desember kl. 16:00 på helsefakultetet ved UiT. December 7th-13th 2022 will see the very first Oslo Bioinformatics Workshop Week at the University of Oslo, Norway. This event is organised by the Student Committee of the Centre for Bioinformatics at UiO, in collaboration with the ISCB Regional Student group in Norway.

New article based on study of Centre for Digital Life Norway

The article Making sense of transdisciplinarity: Interpreting science policy in a biotechnology centre in Science and Public Policy is based on an empirical study of Centre for Digital Life Norway, which is founded to stimulate a transition in biotechnology research towards transdisciplinarity.

The article is authored by DLN Juniour Resource Group member and researcher at NTNU, Maria Bårdsen Hesjedal (left), and Associate professor Department of Sociology and Political Science at NTNU, Heidrun Åm (right).

Cell4Chem - European consortium meeting in Marseille

In October Cell4Chem research group met to exchange and discuss research results in an inspiring meeting hosted by project partner Laboratoire de Chimie Bactérienne in Marseille, France.
