December at Your Library

The Brainerd Public Library was established in 1899 and was a founding member of the Kitchigami Regional Library system in 1969. The Library's mission is to bring people, information, and ideas together to enrich lives and build community.

The Brainerd Public Library will be closed on December 24-26
for the holidays. We will be closed on Monday, January 2 to observe New Year's Day.
TEEN & YOUTH PROGRAMS
Family Storytime
Join us for stories, songs, and crafts -- all based on a theme!
December 1
: Snow I December 8: Mittens I December 15: Dragons
December 22
: Cooking/Baking I December 29: 5 Senses
Recommended for children ages 2-8, but all are welcome.
Story Time Cruise
December 2 & 3 
December 9 & 10 

Come to the library during open hours and enjoy a self-led story time experience. There will be books, activities, and stations to explore based around a theme. December's theme is Snow!
ECFE at the Library
Join us on Wednesdays, at 1:00 PM, for ECFE at the Library.
We will read a story, sing a song, and explore stations together.
#Create
Join us on the 1st Tuesday of the Month, at 3:00 PM, for #Create.
We will be creating make 'n take crafts, perfect for teens! 
December 6: Paper Weaving: Hearts & Stars
Santa Story Time
Meet Santa and listen to him read, "Twas the Night Before Christmas". There will be a Make n Take craft to follow.
Discovery Tuesday
Join us on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the Month, at 3:30 PM, for Discovery Tuesday.
Science experiments and STEM, perfect for ages 7-12!

Read to Georgia
Join us on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the Month, from 5:30-6:30pm.
Georgia loves to listen to people read to her. You can sign up for a 15-minute time slot by calling the library at 218-829-5574.

Please join the Friends of the Brainerd Public Library in the Large Meeting Room for a talk with author Gretchen Anthony about her latest book, The Book Haters' Book Club: a Novel.  Filled with humor, family hijinks, and actual reading recommendations, The Book Haters' Book Club is the ideal feel-good read. It’s a love letter to everyday heroes—those booksellers and librarians dedicated to putting the right books in the right hands every day. No registration is necessary. 
Immediately following the author visit on December 5th by Gretchen Anthony (above), spend some time in the beautifully-decorated library with the Friends of the Library, including hot beverages and treats. Learn about what it's like to be a Friend of the Library!

Tuesday, December 13th @ 12 Noon: Join Crow Wing Soil and Water Conservation District staff as they share tips and tricks for plantings and practices to prevent erosion and improve water quality.

Books, Burgers & Brews

Books, Burgers & Brews will NOT meet in December during the holidays, but plan to join us on Monday, January 23,  2023, at 6 pm at Roundhouse Brewery to discuss our next book The Night She Disappeared by Lisa Jewell! Stay updated on future events and keep an eye out for bonus content on the Books Burgers & Brews Facebook page
