Knowing God and Community

Dear friends of the ministry,

We are deeply thankful to see God working in and through the CRC campus ministry at UofT. We are grateful for your partnership and invite you to continue to support us through your participation, prayers, and financial support. 

Graduate Christian Fellowship (GCF) provides a space for community and to grow in faith. Participants from GCF at the beginning of the year shared that this community provides a place of belonging and friendship, a place of being lifted up and encouraged and to have their stories known. It is a place to share meals and conversation and where people hear "we're so glad you're here." It is also provides a space to process your faith and even express your doubts and where you come to know God in different ways. It is a place to think and to continue to engage with faith. 

At Wine Before Breakfast (WBB) and GCF this past semester, we have been exploring images that have limited how we see God and exploring images that can help us see God better. This has led to a number of great sermons and conversations about God as dovecote, God as mother, whether God is a God of abundance or enough, and how God sees us, Follow the links for sermons and prayers from WBB and/or short reflections from WBB on Instagram. 

We are thankful for how the ministry has shaped people in the past and continues to be a place where people experience community and grow in their understanding of who God is and how God works. Through Wine Before Breakfast and Graduate Christian Fellowship, we challenge, mentor, and enable students to think, work, and live as Christian disciples in the academy and in their professions. Through wrestling with Scripture and difficult topics, we invite people into radical Christian discipleship, inviting them to rest in the hope of Christ and to participate in God's work of bringing justice. 

Grateful for how God uses this ministry to bless people's lives, from generation to generation of students, we want to thank you for your support and participation, as well as invite you to partner financially with us in the shaping of a vibrant Christian community and witness at the University of Toronto and the wider city. 


What We Need 

While we are blessed by sustaining support from the Christian Reformed Church, we are deeply grateful for the generous support from students, alumni, family and friends of this campus ministry that makes up around 30% of our annual budget.

While we appreciate any donation, contributions to the ministry through pre-authorized giving are especially appreciated. Such regular donations provide a significant level of financial stability and cover almost half of our annual fundraising goal of $40,000. 

We invite you to join us through your financial support as we continue to encourage others to seek a radical Christian discipleship in all of life, which is needed even more as we enter another unprecedented season of lament and hope.

How to give 

There are several ways that you can give to this ministry, all of which are tax receiptable:

1. E-transfer. The Classis Toronto treasurer, John Nyholt, can receive and properly receipt donations by e-transfer to classistotreasurer@gmail.com. If you are unsure whether the Classis Treasurer will know the answer to your security question, please forward that information to the ministry email or to the Classis Treasurer.

2. Online at Canada Helps. At our CanadaHelps site click on “Apply your donation to a Specific Fund”. Then select the U of T Campus Ministry, to ensure your donation reaches us.

3. Pre-Authorized Remittance (PAR). For those who have a PAR arrangement with the campus ministry, thank you. These monthly donations are absolutely foundational to our daily ministry. You can, of course, adjust your monthly giving (increase or decrease) at any time by emailing the Classis Treasurer. If you would like to set up a PAR with the ministry, you can complete a Pre-Authorized Remittances form, and mail or scan and email to the Classis Treasurer.

4. Cheque. Cheques should be written out to “Classis Toronto” with “U of T Campus Ministry” on the memo line. Cheques can mailed to us at our office:
