IF YOU BOOK, LEAVE YOUR BEST POSSIBLE CONTACT NUMBER & LISTEN TO YOUR MESSAGES!

Anna might be slammed when I hit send. (Not likely this time!) If she cannot pick up, Leave her a message. She has a method to her madness.. Reservations at 443-235-5577 - She’s a one person operation & has other jobs too. The line closes at 8pm and reopens at 8am. (If you want to get on Friday 10/21 e-mail me until 9:30 or so. There’s about zero chance I’ll sell out tomorrow!)

Weather Cancellations Happen - I Make Every Attempt To Let Clients Sleep In If The Weather's Not Going Our Way.

Fishing for Sea Bass Tues 11/15 Depart 6:30am to 4pm at $175.00..

18 sells out. Bait, rigs, & Gulp provided as desired.

If fishing the stern area waterproof boots are advised in fall & winter.

It’ll be chilly in the AM too!

*Be a half hour early! We always leave early

..except when someone shows up right on time.

Clients arriving late will see the west end of an east-bound boat. Seriously, with a limited number of reserved spots, I do not refund because you overslept or had a flat.. If you’re reserved and the last person we’re waiting on - you’ll need to answer your phone. I will not make on time clients wait past scheduled departure because of a misfortune on your part.

Try to always leave a half hour early (and never an hour early!) I rarely get in on time either. If you have a worrier at home, please advise them I often come home late. It’s what I do.

Trips Also Sometimes Announced on Facebook at Morning Star Fishing

https://www.facebook.com/ocfishing/

I post after action reports (or lack thereof) (and sometimes detailed thoughts on fisheries issues) for every trip on my personal FB page and Morning Star page..

Bait is provided on all trips. Gulp too.

No Galley. Bring Your Own Food & Beverage.

If You Won't Measure & Count Your Fish, The State Will Provide A Man With A Gun To Do It For You. We Measure & Count — ALWAYS — No Exceptions!

It's Simple To Prevent Motion Sickness, Difficult To Cure. Bonine seems best because it's non-drowsy. Truly cheap & effective insurance.

Honestly - If you get to go on the ocean once a month, once a year or even less; why risk chumming all day? Similarly, if you howl at the moon all night, chances are good you'll howl into a bucket all day.

Bring A Cooler With Ice For Your Fish – A 48 Quart Cooler Is Fine For A Few People. Do Not Bring A Very Large Cooler. We have a few loaners - you'll still need ice. Should you catch some monstrous fish, we’ll be able to ice it.

No Galley! Bring Food & Beverages To Suit. A few beers in cans is fine for the ride home.

Wishbone doesn’t replace backbone.. Have to keep a shoulder into reef building to make it happen.

Block Update! As of 11/14/22 we have 38,420 Reef Blocks & 546 Reef Pyramids (170lb ea or an equivalent) deployed at numerous ACE permitted ocean reef sites - there are also 786 pyramids deployed by MD CCA at Chesapeake Bay oyster sites working to restore blue ocean water… (and, boy are those pyramid numbers about to rise!)

Greetings All,

STILL trying to get my port engine rebuild dialed in. The things we do for love. Wasn’t sure I could run a Tuesday trip until Monday afternoon. Right pain in the neck. But we shall go fishing!

May be more fishing weather coming into the weekend - might!

Bunch of green crabs coming too?

This seemingly small development - a load of pyramids to be deployed at the Bass Grounds - will become one of our most grand developments ever. The beginning of an enormous undertaking: re-reefing the Bass Grounds.

The Pyramid Project just got an incredible boost..

Kinsley Construction has been quietly supplying hundreds and hundreds of pyramids to CCA MD for Chesapeake Bay work, and OCRF for coastal ocean work we have going on. Chris Kinsley himself has pushed manufacture of the pyramids at their York, PA cement plant to the max. They’re making about 360 of these 175lb reef units a month. It’s just astounding!

It’s long been my dream that we might harness waste from the cement industry and turn it into corals offshore and oysters in our estuaries. While Bear Concrete, Atlantic Concrete, Gillis Gilkerson have all lent a shoulder to the project; Kinsley Construction has gone way beyond using leftover job waste - they routinely mix batches of fresh cement to fill our pyramid molds.

My crew made the first reef pyramid prototype in my front yard in 2019 during when August hurricane winds had us wharfed. From just a few hand-mixed units deployed when possible; with a bit of luck Capt Stormy and crew aboard the Tiki XIV will deploy 260 pyramids this coming week - all donated, (trucking and manufacture both!) by the folks at Kinsley Construction.

While you’ll find “Kinsley Construction’s Restoration Reef at the Bass Grounds” on our 2023 charts, I expect “Kinsley’s Reef” will be the spot anglers talk about fishing..

We’ll begin this new reef in 80 feet of water at the Bass Grounds off Ocean City MD.

How much reef we build is entirely up to donors. Promise this though, we shall have sea bass fishing as good as they had in the 1950s before it’s done.

And if our estuarine partners really succeed? If oyster restorations work out? ..those white marlin and mahi men caught in the skinny water just east of the Bass Grounds will return. Not accidental catches, but lines run astern to put a white marlin in the air just like my old friend Jim Whaley did to win the Marlin Club Tournament in 1958.

It’s 100% doable.

We have two other projects simmering - one is huge.

All of them add up.

Leave the ocean better than we found it?

You bet.

Turn today’s green ocean waters blue again?

Absolutely.

Want to support such an effort?

We’d appreciate the help!

See our Annual Reef Raffle at ocreefs.org ..

Gave away a nice rod this week - Sunday evening. It was a Star curleque jigging stick - one of two donated by AllTackle in WOC.

It’s said, though not loudly, that even Rodney Dangerfield had lucky days. Hard as that is to believe, we see the unthinkable here too: Hurricane Murray was this week’s winner!

Crazier still, he already has the exact same stick and is thrilled to have another.

Well, pretty work Hurricane!

Winning tickets will go right back in the fish bowl for other drawings.

We have more and more prizes coming in for more & more winners! They get better and better!

Cheers All!

Monty

Maryland is the only state from Massachusetts to Texas without a marine reef building program. Though surely on a low budget, we ARE building Maryland’s coastal fisheries’ future; making it better for centuries to come.

The raffle itself may be a gamble, but your donation isn’t — donations are absolutely going to help build reef!

Particulars!

OCRF’s 2022 Benelli/Park Place Jewlers Annual Reef Raffle. One ticket for $10 - six for $50 - fourteen for $100 - plus an additional ticket for every additional hundred.

A buyer of $200.00 worth, for instance, would be getting 15 tix per hundred; at $300 it would be 16 tix per one hundred so 48 tickets.. $500.00 would be 90 Tix!

Buy tickets online at ocreefs.org at the ‘donation’ tab.  Courtney and I will fill the name and phone number in on all your tickets, then send a pic via email. If you don’t have a pic within 48 hours? (First Check Your Spam Box for Courtney’s gmail address. (Told you we were low budget. Fancy office stuff doesn’t build reef.) ..if it ain’t in the junk/spam folder then Email us.

Raceway Citgo by Crabs to Go has tix behind the counter (at last!) They do not nick a percentage - it all builds reef.

Cheers!
