We are saddened to share that UUS member Mary Oba died on November 8th. Mary moved from Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Coralville to be closer to family in 2018 and became a member of UUS on November 17th, 2020. A devoted mother and grandmother, Mary was also engaged in social issues throughout her life, say her family. She was an avid reader, an advocate for public libraries, and she taught adults to read. Our hearts go out to Mary’s friends here at UUS and to her beloved family, including daughter Susan Kramer and former son-in-law David Kramer, a UUS member.
In honor of her wishes, Mary’s body will be donated to The University of Iowa Deeded Body Program. A memorial time will take place from 2-4 pm on Saturday, November 19th, at Grand Living (3 Russell Slade Blvd, Coralville, IA). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lied Scottsbluff Public Library. Mary’s obituary can be found here: https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/name/mary-oba-obituary?id=37368165
