Change Your World Week

This week finds the halls of Delta College filled with awareness campaigns created by students on issues of concern in their communities. Some participants create displays as part of a class project, while others are part of a student club. At each display, participants are invited to take action on the featured issue, by signing a petition, sending a letter to a lawmaker, joining an interest group, etc.

Students have the option to host their awareness campaigns in the hallways of the main campus or online for everyone to access anywhere. Regardless of where it is held, CYWW gives students the opportunity to find their voice in becoming a co-creator in the kind of community in which they want to live. Visit the hallway campaigns this week or the CYWW website (website hosted by Delta College Library).

Bring a Librarian to Class

Faculty have the option to embed a Librarian in their Brightspace/D2L course! What does embedding mean? Embedding means you add a Librarian to your class list in a Librarian Role. The Librarian will appear on your class list and students can email them directly with research questions. You could also set up a discussion board for "Questions for the Librarian" or we can work with you to create other discussion boards or library-related activities in your course. Interested? Email us at library@delta.edu

Featured Book: The Sioux Chef's Indigenous Kitchen by Sean Sherman

Locally sourced, seasonal, "clean" ingredients and nose-to-tail cooking are nothing new to Sean Sherman, the Oglala Lakota chef and founder of The Sioux Chef. In his first cookbook, Sherman shares his approach to creating boldly-seasoned foods that are vibrant, healthful, at once elegant and easy.  The work is a delectable introduction to modern indigenous cuisine of the Dakota and Minnesota territories, with a vision and approach to food that travels well beyond those borders.

Library Card sign-up at Downtown Saginaw Center

Librarian Anne Elias recently hosted an awesome swag table at the Downtown Saginaw Center to encourage students to sign-up for a library card. Do you need a library card? Just bring your Delta ID or Drivers License to the front desk in the library and we will get you signed up. We can also help students and staff at the Downtown Centers set up a library account and books can be requested to be sent to Midland and Saginaw Centers. A Minute in the Archives

Archives staff and student workers have been busy digitizing the college's yearbooks and course catalogs. How fitting that the first page of the college's first course catalog published in 1961 talks about student belonging. View the yearbooks and course catalogs on the Internet Archive
