Get involved with #iwill Week! 

Today marks the start of #iwill Week, a national campaign that seeks to provide a platform for young people in Britain to campaign for improvements to their local communities, while also highlighting the dedication of young people to Social Action projects across the U.K. Interested in joining the #iwill movement? We will be hosting a number of activities to mark the week, from a networking event taking place on Tuesday 22 November in the Events Space with Royal Holloway #iwill Ambassador Molly. Our Social Action Project Leaders will also be in the atrium of the Emily Wilding Davison Building throughout the week to promote the movement and their own projects and explain how you can participate in volunteering.

#iwill Networking Event
Royal Holloway student and #iwill ambassador Molly is hosting a networking event taking place in the Events Space at 2pm, 3pm, 4pm on Tuesday 22 November. The theme of this year's event will be 'In My Hometown: how can young people shape a place?'. Some along to share how you have been involved in social action in your community.  There will also be an invitation to participate in a nationwide social media challenge - find out more information here

Volunteer with Action Tutoring 

Action Tutoring are looking for individuals who offer short tutoring sessions to pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds, helping them to achieve their full potential. Action Tutoring will be hosting a short information session online on Tuesday 29 November at 12pm to find out more about the role. Deliver Christmas Presents to Those in Need This Year

Action for Carers Surrey are looking for volunteers to deliver Christmas presents to families across Surrey over the festive period. Volunteers will need to be able to collect presents from their head office in Burpham, and also help to co-ordinate the distribution of gifts. Find out more on the online platform

Become a Xmas Project Volunteer!

Kith with Kids are looking for Christmas project volunteers to help with their Christmas Social Development Project, taking place between Tuesday 27 - Saturday 31 December 2022. Activities will include games, dance, crafts and drama. No previous experience is necessary and full training will be provided. Find out more on the online platform.

Royal Holloway Volunteering is recruiting for the Response Team! The Response Team is a group of students who sign up to hear about one-off opportunities and last minute volunteering opportunities. This could include supporting local community partner events, special social action project activities, or assisting the local community in another creative yet helpful way! Elderly Tea Parties 

The Elderly Tea Parties Team will be hosting their first tea party of the term, taking place at the Village Centre in Englefield Green on 25 November. Duties will include chatting with the guests and helping to set up the venue before the guests arrive. If you are interested in taking part, then please visit the online platform to find out more. 

Thames 21

The Thames 21 Team are looking for volunteers to help maintain an area of the Thames towpath. Activities include keeping the area tidy and removing invasive plant species, allowing the ecosystem to flourish. Sessions take place every Wednesday from 2pm. No previous experience necessary, just an enthusiasm for wildlife and the environment. Find out more about this opportunity here

Santa's Workshop 

The Christmas Team are busy organising their annual 'Santa's Workshop' event, taking place on Wednesday 7 December in the Events Space. Donations can be dropped off at the Volunteering Hub, located next to the Union Shop. The Christmas Team work with local care homes and charity organisations to deliver Christmas presents to the elderly and isolated. Find out more about this opportunity on the online platform

Make an #iwill Pledge 

Every year, we encourage Royal Holloway Students to make a pledge for #iwill week and Social Action. To pledge, record a short video of you explaining your pledge and tag #iwill and Royal Holloway Volunteering. Opportunity with the Cobra Collective  

The Cobra Collective is an international organisation that helps deliver a number of projects to local communities, often with a focus on sustainability. The collective is looking for a volunteer to help assess the current ecological state of the woodland area in Englefield Green, with the goal of contributing to a conservation strategy. Duties will include writing reports and conducting interviews. Please visit the volunteering platform to find out more

Sports Volunteering 

Royal Holloway Sports has a number of volunteering opportunities for those interested in gaining expereince in the sports volunteering sector. Find out more below! 

Sports Volunteering Drop In Session

Divine will be in the Volunteering Hub on Tuesday 22 November to answer any questions you might have about sports volunteering at Royal Holloway! There are loads of ways to get involved, from becoming a volunteer Coach to helping to deliver on-campus Active Sessions. Check out the Sports Volunteering page to find out more.

Volunteering Abroad 

We have several opportunities available with our partner organisations that are eligible for funding via the Turing Scheme. The deadline to apply for Turing Scheme funding is Monday 28 November and is open to first year students. 
Have questions about the Turing Scheme? 
If you have any questions about funding via the Turing Scheme, please attend our drop-in sessions taking place on Wednesday 23 November between 12-2pm and Friday 25 November between 12-2pm, both in the Enterprise Hub.  Alternatively, check out the Turing Scheme page on the student intranet. 

Challenges Abroad 

Challenges Abroad are hosting an information session on Monday 21 October at 4pm and Wednesday 23 November at 5pm in the Events Space.  These sessions are an opportunity to find out about the amazing projects that Royal Holloway students can participate in. As part of Turing Scheme they offer the opportunity to travel to various global locations to take part in projects based around Health and Wellbeing, Creative Arts and Sports. 

Raleigh Costa Rica 

Raleigh Costa Rica will be hosting an information session on Monday 21 November at 6pm online and Thursday 24 November at 5pm in the Events Space, for those interested in joining the programme. Raleigh Costa Rica is providing an opportunity for Royal Holloway students to work with the indigenous community to help overcome the challenges that they face.  

Think Pacific

Think Pacific will be hosting a information session on Tuesday 22 November in the Events Space at 5pm for those interested in joining the project. As part of Turing Scheme are offering the opportunity for Royal Holloway students to travel to Fiji in 2023. Tom from Think Pacific will be on campus during the daytime to answer any questions too. 

20th Anniversary Contest 

To celebrate Royal Holloway's 20th Birthday, we are running a Volunteering Contest for Clubs and Societies to participate in, with a prize to the group that logs the most hours volunteering that are logged on the online platform. And Finally...

Thank you to all who wrapped and filled shoeboxes for the Christmas Project's 'Love in A Box Appeal'! On Monday 14 November a total of 158 Shoeboxes were collected, which will be sent to communities in need throughout Eastern Europe.
