Dear Friends and Neighbors

It’s been a stressful time for many in town lately, so I thought I’d lighten the mood. Also because it’s almost my birthday, and I always get ridiculously excited about my birthday. Even as I get older (and hopefully wiser), I love to celebrate! I am so grateful to have another wonderful year and to spend it with the people I love. That includes all of you fabulous friends and neighbors who are part of my New Castle family. Birthdays give everyone a day to feel special and to feel loved and appreciated. But why limit that to one day a year?  I was thinking about things we can do in Town to make everyone feel special, not just on their birthdays. As much as I’d like to blanket the streets with balloons and hand out daily cupcakes, that’s probably not realistic!  Of course, we can give friends a shout-out in our Community Corner.  But more than that, we can smile, be gracious, and be kind to each other every day. Let’s not judge one another, but celebrate the present and look forward to the future together. Of course, a little cake never hurts either!

As always, please feel free to reach out to me at LKatz@MyNewCastle.org.

My very best,
Lisa

The Town of New Castle would like to wish:

HAPPY 12th BIRTHDAY TO LOGAN ANDERSON
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO JAKE URBAN!

Look for the community’s best wishes to you all on the electronic sign across from the train station! We love the sense of community (and the smiles) that this brings!

If you have a community shout-out (birthdays or otherwise), please send an email to CommunityCorner@mynewcastle.org. We make our Community Corner announcements at each of our public meetings. And you can see your name in lights!

Holocaust & Human Rights Committee

Last week marked the 84th anniversary of Kristallnacht (the Night of Broken Glass).  In November of 1938 Nazis led a campaign of destruction and violence against Jewish-owned businesses, synagogues, homes and people.  The events of Kristallnacht remind us not to stay silent in the face of hate.

What a better opportunity than Thanksgiving weekend to learn more about Native Americans?

On Saturday Nov. 26, spend an afternoon with Drew Shuptar-Rayvis and go back in time.
Drew will not only speak to us of these times, he will also demonstrate and represent them. His attire and objects reflect the interconnected relationships between the Dutch, English, and Algonkian peoples and represent the adaptation of Native American life to European settlement and trade goods, including the importance and use of wampum. #scouts  #fashionhistory #earlycolony
