Following Meeting’s acceptance of our Minute, Peace and Social Concerns Committee and the Reproductive Justice Working Group is working on our compilation of resources for those in need. The Working Group’s next meeting will be November 21st on Zoom. We invite all interested members of AFM to join us. For more information please contact Sharon Stout via Breeze

What Happened at Meeting for Business on Sunday?

  • We approved our budget for Fiscal Year 2023 (which starts on December 1, 2022) and accepted the Takoma Park Friends Meeting Preparative budget.
  • We asked the Finance Committee to bring a recommendation re contributions to Quaker organizations, and asked for a list of such organizations to be published in Silent Announcements. (See below.)
  • We heard a report from the Building Committee about fluctuating prices for renovation projects, and plans for a meeting among clerks of the Finance Committee, the Development subcommittee, the Trustees and the Building Committee and the treasurer, to consult on next steps to propose to the Meeting as a whole.
  • We approved the appointment of Charlie Carter to serve as White House resident.
  • We held a "continuing threshing session" on the proposed statement on our commitment to Anti-Racism, and asked for a list of Change Group members in Silent Announcements. (See below). The statement will be brought back to meeting a second reading in December.

against domination, against oppression.
The moment we choose to love we begin to move towards freedom,
to act in ways that liberate ourselves and others.
