OREGON WATER JUSTICE NETWORK

NOVEMBER UPDATES

What does water justice mean to you? This is the question that the Water Equity and Climate Resilience Caucus asked network participants at the November network meeting. The caucus is a part of PolicyLink and they joined us this month to share information about the work they do and their federal policy goals. Their network is comprised of 100 organizations across the country and and their approach to achieving water justice includes; strengthening the national network, developing regional leadership, advancing frontline communication strategies, and connecting to the global fight. If you're interested in joining the Water Equity and Climate Resilience Caucus complete this Google form.

Every month we invite a network member or guest to present on their water related work at the Oregon Water Justice Network monthly meeting. The network is offering stipends for those interested in presenting. If you're interested or know of any organizations or community leaders that would like to be a guest presenter at one of our next network meetings please email Isabel at isabel@coalitioncommunitiescolor.org.

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: BEYOND TOXICS

Beyond Toxics uplifts voices from Oregon communities disproportionately impacted by pollution and climate change.

Beyond Toxics' work merges social, racial and environmental justice in policy, practice and education. The organization is building a community-driven environmental justice movement to support clean air and water, non-polluting energy and vibrant communities.

They collaborate with other nonprofits, educators, and tribal organizations to build a movement to demand that state and local policies require fair, inclusive, and equitable access to clean air, clean water, and safe spaces for all to live and work in. Through grassroots organizing and education, Beyond Toxics supports the rise of youth and Oregon's diverse communities in becoming the central environmental justice leaders in the state.

This illustrated Theory of Change demonstrates the way Beyond Toxics provides leadership for a thriving and just Oregon
