Happy Thanksgiving

Thank you for being a newsletter subscriber! We have some specials to share with you this holiday weekend.

The Miss Babs team will be off this Thursday and Friday for the holiday, and will return Monday for all your yarny needs.

Cupcake

A new and limited yarn

Add a little sprinkle of fun with this yarn! Cupcake is a classic round and bouncy 3-ply worsted weight yarn with a tweedy twist - multicolored pops of acrylic slub are blended in with the superwash Merino wool for a little extra color. We've dyed it up in a family of 15 colorways and have some great project suggestions on the blog.

Cupcake is going to be a LIMITED, but recurring, offering. The inventory you see right now is all we have; we are planning to offer it intermittently in limited palettes in the future. Please buy enough at one time for your intended project.

Rear View Window

by Casapinka

We've paired our Yummy 2-Ply with coordinating fuzzy mohair Moonglow to create sweater sets for Casapinka's newest creation, the Rear View Window pullover. This is a fast and fun design, knit sideways from cuff to cuff. The pattern is currently available as a placeholder/mini sweater pattern on Ravelry and Payhip but the full pattern will be available tomorrow!

New from Babs & Veronica

Amazing Wrap
by Babs Ausherman

Babs loves a super easy knit for TV watching and reading, and this one doesn’t disappoint! This is a very simple shawl that lets the yarn do all the work. Choose a vibrant skein of Moonglow (Soundscape) to contrast beautifully with a rich, monochromatic color of Yearning (Bougainvillea) - the interplay of color and opacity will give you success with most any color combination.

The pattern is a free download on Ravelry or missbabs.com!

Gull Tracks Cowl and Mitts
by Veronica Parsons

Little slipped-stitch cables reminiscent of bird footprints running up and down the shore are embossed on this coordinating set of mitts and a cowl. The stitch pattern is simple to work and looks great in both variegated and solid yarns.

Veronica knit her cowls in Kunlun, and the mitts in Yowza Minis. The two colorways shown are Sandbar and Unicorn Tail.

Free gift with purchase: through Monday, November 28, your purchase of Kunlun or Yowza Minis entitles you to a free pattern download of the Gull Tracks set. We will email these download codes MANUALLY on Monday and Tuesday of next week.

Styling the Sophie Scarf

Babs has recently knit up a Sophie Scarf in one skein of Franklin Sojourn. This is a perfect little snack-size project and we are seeing them everywhere. We've styled it on our mannequin in a couple different ways.

Yes, the pattern is written for DK weight yarn and Sojourn is a fingering weight. Babs went down to a US 3 needle, weighed her yarn before beginning (to make it easy to know where the halfway point was), and knit the center section a bit longer to use up all the yarn.

Nature's Majesty

Criminal Knits NYE MKAL

Hosted by Hilary Latimer of Criminal Knits, this Mystery Knit-Along will kick off on December 31.

This year’s MKAL is a great big, squishy, asymmetrical shawl. It showcases some beautiful slipped stitch patterns, with a glorious mosaic as the finale!

For more information, please see the Criminal Knits group on Ravelry - the pattern placeholder will be out later today. Our yarn sets for this project are available here.

Just For You

Every winter, Laura Aylor hosts a lovely mystery knitalong called Just For You. Just for You has been an annual tradition since 2014 – a little bit of me-time each day from December 13 to December 24. You get a small clue delivered to your library daily with the idea of slowing down and taking care of yourself this time of year when it’s so easy to take on too much.

This year, Laura is recommending Intrepid as one of the suggested yarns for the project (you'll need one skein). For more information, please see her Ravelry group - the planning sheet will be available beginning December 1.

Festive 2022

All of our Festive Set pre-orders have been shipped and are on their way to their new homes. We have a very limited number of Festive Sets remaining in-stock and ready to ship! If you're looking for more inspiration for what to do with your Festive yarn set, we have a BIG bundle of pattern suggestions on Ravelry for you to browse.
Napz
by Casapinka

Sharon from Security (and Casapinka) also have a suggestion for your Festive Set (plus a contrasting skein) - and it's Napz. The pattern will be out on November 29. Directions are given for two blankets (for 20 and 24 minis), a shawl, and a scarf. The pattern consists of 4 repeating stitch sections with small mohair dividers separating them.

For more specifics (and Sharon commentary), head to Ravelry.

New Designs in Miss Babs Yarns

Star Hopping
by Alina Appasova

Star Hopping wrap is a fun and easy knit. It is perfect for knitting in front of the TV, long road trips, or drinking wine! The repeats are short, intuitive, and easy to memorize. You only have to work with one color at a time as the slip stitches create a beautiful texture in the fabric.

It's knit in Tarte, shown here in Orchid and Cascara, and is easily modified for different weights and sizes. The pattern is available on Ravelry. All of Alina's patterns are 20% off with the code HOLIDAYS through the end of the year!

Style 1925 by Tiziana Sammuri
Style 1925
by Tiziana Sammuri

“Style 1925” is the name often used to refer to Art Deco. Art Deco is characterized by long, thin forms, and geometric patterning with sharp angles or zigzags. The Style 1925 Shawl is worked top-down from neck to bottom. It features twisted stitches and an easy lace pattern.

Shown in Tarte in Contortionist. The pattern is available on Ravelry.
Broad Strokes by Katie Degroff
Broad Strokes
by Katie Degroff

Bold blocks of color and texture make this big geometric wrap a fun and easy knit.

It takes one skein each of 5 colorways, shown here in Yummy 2-Ply in Coastal Fog, Punch Bowl, Amaranth, Coconut Bay, and Sweetheart. The pattern is available on Ravelry and Etsy.

Seafield Hat
by Jennifer Shiels Toland

The Seafield Hat is a unisex, textured hat, knit in the round using Gansey-inspired stitches. Wear it slouchy or turn up the brim for a classic watch-cap fit. This textured hat is a little sister to the Seafield pullover, and is knit with the same (leftover!) yarn - Yowza and Moonglow. Get the pattern on Ravelry.
Fair Isle Neck Warmer by Michael Harrigan
Fair Isle Neck Warmer
by Michael Harrigan

Designer Michael Harrigan took the leftovers from his recent design, the Cloud Forest Wrap, and created this great colorwork cowl! We love the assortment of geometric patterns in this Fair Isle Neck Warmer.

It's knit in merino-tussah heavy laceweight Yet, in Rainforest and Kitesurfing. You can find the pattern on Ravelry.
Dancing to a Differing Cadence by Sue Fischer
Dancing to a Differing Cadence
by Sue Fischer

Sue has riffed on her Dancing Leaves shawl design and updated it with a new leaf shape, new layout, and a new lower edge. This is a great way to play with short rows and a variegated colorway against a monochromatic background.

It's shown in two colorways of Yowza, Plover and Underbrush, and the pattern is available on Ravelry.
