DANCING WITH THE STARS: RESULTS FROM SEMI FINALS & TWO MORE DANCERS GO HOME
During this week’s Semi Finals, the remaining six competitors; Wayne, Charli, Trevor, Daniel, Shangela, and Gabby each performed two routines with their pro partners. There were no team dances, relays, or dance marathons to fill that second round this time: Instead, it was simply the six couples dancing their usual duets, first in a final ballroom style, then in a Latin dance style they’ve never attempted. It was a particularly bittersweet night, as longtime head judge Len Goodman revealed that he’ll be stepping down after Season 31 concludes next week. Goodman has served as Dancing’s head judge since Season 1 and has participated in all but two seasons during the show’s 17-year run, having sat out Seasons 21 and 29. Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli have also been with DWTS since it began. The scores were strong and the two front-running women each earned perfect scores with Charli D’Amelio and Mark Ballas earning 40/40 for their Viennese waltz; and 40/40 for their paso doble as well as Gabby Windey and Val Chmerkovskiy earning 40/40 for their waltz plus 40/40 for their paso doble. The remaining scores were Wayne Brady and Witney Carson getting 36/40 for their paso doble and 37/40 for their Viennese waltz. Shangela and Gleb Savchenko earned 36/40 for their paso doble and 37/40 for their Viennese waltz. Daniel Durant and Britt Stewart earned 35/40 for their Viennese waltz and 34/40 for their samba. Finally, Trevor Donovan and Emma Slater earned 32/40 for their cha-cha and 33/40 for their Viennese waltz. The three contestants in the bottom three for this double elimination night were expectedly Daniel, Trevor, and for the first time, Shangela. Trevor was immediately eliminated and then the judges unanimously saved Shangela and Gleb to advance to the Finals, sending Daniel home. Next week is the season finale when all this stars return to the Ballroom.
