Paying It Forward
A Scooter for a Veteran
|
|
This electric scooter was given to my brother Ray, by the Order of the Purple Heart. You may recall, my brother passed away recently. I contacted the organization who had given Ray the scooter to return it to them. They asked if I could find another Veteran to give it to and when he/she no longer needs it, that they pass it on to another Veteran. So, if anyone knows of a Veteran who can use it, please give me a call. The only stipulation is that it goes to a Veteran, and it will not be resold for a profit, and when it is no longer used, that it be passed on to another Veteran.

Dear Mile Hi Veterans,
Mile Hi Veterans Services:
Good News!! We have received the IRS Determination Letter we have been waiting for. We completed and filed an IRS Form 1023 for Mile Hi Veterans Services to be a 501(c)3 on January 24, 2021. MHVS now has a 501(c)3 public charity status.
The IRS has determined that Mile Hi Veterans Services is a Type I supporting organization under IRS Section 509(a)3.
Now we must study all the IRS rules and regulations that go with these designations to make sure we do not lose them or become in noncompliance.
To the Finance Committee members who worked on this project; well done. Let the Happy dance begin!💃
It is an honor to serve,
Dr. Ernestine Garcia, Chair

~ Tiyana Lopez ~
Rest in Peace
Our hearts go out to our Member and Scholarship Recipient, Elaine Lopez, who lost her daughter Tiyana Lopez recently. Tiyana is also BJ Brooks' great-niece. A Go-Fund-Me account has been set up by Tiyanna's sister, Aleah, to assist the family with funeral expenses.
"Even a small donation would help and if you can't make a donation, it wold be great if you could share the fundraiser to help spread the word. Thanks for taking a look."
