The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs' arrangement with the Alda Center for Communicating Science allows postdocs to participate for free (for 0 credit) in their core graduate courses, COM 501, 503, AND 565. We recommend starting with COM 501 Foundations of Science Communication I, which is only one credit and fits nicely around postdoc work schedules.
COM 501 - FOUNDATIONS OF SCIENCE COMMUNICATION I (1 Credit)
Section S30 (online) – Four synchronous sessions on the following Thursdays, from 4:45 PM to 8:15 PM EDT: January 28th, February 2nd, February 9th, and February 16th.
COM 503 - FOUNDATIONS OF SCIENCE COMMUNICATION II (1 Credit)*
Section S30 (online) –Four synchronous sessions on the following Thursdays, from 4:45 PM to 8:15 PM EDT: February 23rd, March 2nd, March 9th and March 23rd.
COM 565 - FOUNDATIONS OF SCIENCE COMMUNICATION (3 Credits)
Section S01 (hybrid) - Professor Nancee Moes This section meets in-person and online synchronously. Online synchronous sessions meet on Thursdays from 1:15 PM EDT to 4:05 PM from January 26th to April 20th. The required in-person workshop meets Saturday, February 4th and Sunday, February 5th, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM EDT each day.

2. Spring '23 Biomedical Adjunct Needed at Long Island U-Post
The Biomedical section of the Department of Diagnostic Health Professions, Long Island University-Post, Brookville, NY is inviting applications for an adjunct position to teach a Graduate course in Virology in Spring 2023 semester (from 17-01-2023 to 05-04-2023.). This course is offered to students in MS in Biomedical Sciences program. This course covers the isolation, identification and classification of viruses that infect human and animal systems. The viral disease states, causes, diagnosis and treatment are also covered. Detailed syllabus available on request.
The class will meet on Wednesdays from 5:25-8:05 pm.
Applicants must have a PhD or a terminal degree in the relevant fields of virology, microbiology or infectious diseases. Prior teaching experience preferred.

1. Call for abstracts for April 2023 national life sciences postdoc symposium
The postdoc-run Journal of Life Sciences is hosting the first Postdoc Symposium in association with National Postdoctoral Association, NPA, in April of 2023 in Philadelphia in concurrence with the NPA conference.
Postdocs in all disciplines of life sciences are encouraged to submit their abstracts. Please send your submissions to symposium@postdocjournal.com.
Abstract submission deadline is December 25th , 2022.
Authors of selected submissions will be notified by January 15th , 2023.
Accepted abstracts will be given a 5-minute presentation time, followed by a 2-minute Q&A.
