Thankful for Our Community

The power of community can never be overstated. It connects us, provides support, and encourages us to strive for more.

Finding a group of people that you can connect and share values, goals, and interests with is a great way to find value in your own lived experiences and professional development. Building strong relationships can propel your career and help you achieve greater confidence in your abilities as a professional. Continue building connections and focus on including people that inspire and lift you up - they are your community.

We are constantly inspired by our members who embody diversity, equity, and inclusion in the tech industry.  As you continue to celebrate and reflect on this year, know that Women Who Code is grateful for you being a part of our global community.

Women Who Code

Brave spaces where you find community and can exist in the fullness of your unique human expression need to hear and feel support in the wake of Saturday’s traumatic events. To those who lost loved ones and to our members who are deeply affected by this tragedy, we, at Women Who Code, join the world in sending light and love as you grieve each life lost.

The targeted attack at Club Q in Colorado Springs is a result of the continued discrimination against trans and queer people. Everyone should have a safe space to have fun, commune with others, and wholeheartedly be your authentic self. We condemn the devastating violence that took place.

Women Who Code continues to create space for and amplify the voices of those most affected by violent rhetoric and hateful ideologies against the LGBTQIA+ community.

Technical Highlight: Celebrating Systems Engineers in Our Community

This week, we join in celebrating Systems Engineer Day — a day set aside to recognize the life-changing efforts of the technologists who design the systems in our lives. Systems include both the behind-the-scenes architecture and interfaces we interact with every day, from hospitals to education to amusement parks. Every day, we benefit from the unseen work of these engineers and on November 25 we say thank you!

This week, we’re highlighting sessions from our YouTube channel on systems design and engineering.

Pro-Tip of the Week

“When working with legacy systems, don't be constrained by how it is today. Think about all the things you would build if it did not exist today and iterate on the system to take it to the future state.”
