Wins for Workers and Workers' Rights

Beyond surprising results in the Senate and House, this year's midterm elections delivered notable wins for workers' rights, health and safety. Collective bargaining, the minimum wage and women's health were all on the ballot – and the results made it very clear what voters want.

These elections came as Americans' approval of labor unions stands at 71 percent, the highest it's been since 1965. As a new Economic Policy Institute report details, unions bring many benefits, including a stronger democracy. Read More

Trench Deaths Are on Pace to Set a Record 
Trench deaths tripled following the 2007-2009 recession when construction demand increased and many new companies – some without the experience and skills to perform the work safely – raced to perform that work.
