Intersectional Gender Analysis with civil society organizations in Latin America
 #GenderTransformative #ChildParticipation
The Intersectional Gender Analysis was co-created with partners from Central America, Mexico and South America and was conducted in a participatory manner. It incorporated the voices of girls, boys and adolescents from Rednnyas, MOLACNATS, REDIME (Peru), Yo También Tengo Algo Que Decir (Peru) and young mobilizers from Rede Não Bata Eduque (Brazil).

This analysis is one of the first steps of the Civil Society Support Program (PASC)  to become a gender transformative program. Among some of the findings of the analysis are the identification different needs and approaches of children and adolescents based on their age, race, gender, migratory status or socioeconomic condition, in order to advance in the implementation of the intersectional approach.

The improvement of safeguarding processes based on gender identity and expression factors was also identified, as well as the strengthening of communication messages with a focus on inclusion and non-discrimination. Finally, the importance of strengthening strategic alliances within the civic space to ensure safe public participation in the defence of gender equity was identified.

Brazil: Publication on child and adolescent meaningful participation launched

 #ShiftingPower #ChildParticipation
More than 600 young people participated in the launch of the publication "Invitation to Participation: He who tells the story is the one who makes the story", by the Rede Nao Bata Eduque in Brazil and led by teenage mobilizers Israel Izael, Maria Heloísa and Rebeca Cassiano.

The publication has been produced by former and current mobilizers of the Network and contains methodologies, information and personal stories of young people on meaningful participation.  Maria Heloisa, an adolescent from Brazil, says "I finished elementary school and started high school and I didn't know what types of violence existed and I didn't know I had the right to participate. After joining the Network, I discovered all this and found out that I and the people around me suffer violence without knowing it.... I saw that it was important for me to participate because I could raise awareness about violence and education".

Rebeca also shares with us her view: "Since I learned about my rights and the Statute of the Child and Adolescent, especially the right to participation, I feel part of something bigger, I see the importance of participation and positive education of children and adolescents. Not only do I know myself better as a subject of rights, but I can share them with other adolescents so that they can also participate".

The launch was carried out in coordination with the Adolescent Participation Committee of Goiás (CPA GO), the Nucleus of Adolescent Citizenship of Campo Alegre (Nuca), Plan International Brazil, the Network of Adolescent Health Promoters (RAP), the Peteca Network and World Vision.

Civic Space Analysis for the Defence of Children's Rights

#CivicSpace #ChildRights
Between August and October 2022, the civic space analysis tool was applied in 8 Latin American countries including Argentina, Brazil, El Salvador, Guatemala, Paraguay, Peru, Mexico and Venezuela.

Several civil society organizations, including PASC partners. engaged in a dialogue to analyse the local context and formulate joint strategies to enable or strengthen civic space. These strategies seek to enable civil society actors, including children and adolescents and their organizations, to operate freely without fear of reprisals in the defence of their rights and to influence decision-making spaces.

This exercise was also carried out with networks of children and adolescents in a child friendly and adapted manner. The main results of the analysis with children will be presented by them in a dialogue with the Inter-American Court of Human Rights in November.

Strengthening capacities for children's rights advocacy

#ChildRights  #CapacityStrenghening

Designing and implementing joint advocacy initiatives with partners and networks of children and adolescents is one of the main priorities of the Civil Society Support Program (PASC) in the region. As Save the Children in Honduras we have continued to strengthen capacities through a process of reflection and internal collective construction for the elaboration of a National Advocacy Plan.

Based on the country context analysis prepared by the Network of Organizations for Children's Rights (COIPRODEN) and the Country Strategic Plan, we were able to identify the main milestones for advocacy for the coming year. We also identified the partner organizations, key stakeholders at the national level and strategies to develop advocacy actions on children's rights.

El Salvador: Public Officials Trained to Prevent Violence against Children

#ChildRights  #CapacityStrenghening

Our partner FUNDASIL has developed a training for Youth Groups of the human rights ombudsman's office in El Salvador. These groups play a role in the dissemination of Human Rights among peers and are part of the organizational structure of the institution. The youth officials can now disseminate parenting tools based on respect and which pursue the elimination of physical punishment and humiliating treatment of children and adolescents.

The training was carried out through the Positive Discipline course, which seeks to have a medium-term impact on the prevention of violence and improve the treatment of children and adolescents. The training incorporates both gender equality and child participation perspectives.

Digital transformation for effective organizational management

#Innovation #CapacityStrenghening

The PANIAMOR Foundation in Costa Rica has developed its Digital Transformation Strategy, to move towards modernization, expansion of its capabilities and greater agility in different processes that allow them to be a more effective organization in fulfilling its mission with children and adolescents. This initiative is implemented in the framework of the organizational capacity development (OCD) component of the PASC programme.

Through this process, the Foundation has established priorities to digitize and integrate key operations, develop an organizational culture prepared for digital transformation and position itself in the digital world as one of the most recognized social organizations.
It seeks to innovate through tools such as an integrated project management system, which has provided PANIAMOR with resources for better programming, coordination and control of the implementation of its projects.
