Thursday Terrors are a thing of the past. We're here to stay.

Hey there!

As we close out the week, we're here to offer you some industry news, upcoming events, and advice for creators that is sure to light your inbox up:fire: Let's call it an early preheating of the oven...Obviously, we're excited about Thanksgiving :turkey:  :knife_fork_plate:  :clinking_glasses:

In the (Industry) Know

  • PRODUCERSEdison Research reports that daily podcasts reach 18% of listeners ages 13+ with great potential for continued growth. The data shows a steady increase of 20% over the last year and 3x the reach of 2014.
  • CREATORS: You can now upload entire episodes of your podcast to Youtube with Headliner. To get caught up, log in to Headliner, create a Full Episode Automation, and select "Start from the First Episode".
  • ADVERTISERS: Acast has launched Keyword Targeting capabilities in the Acast Marketplace to "enable brands to target specific words and phrases in individual podcast episodes." This function will significantly increase targeting relevance with contextually aligned advertising messages.

Our Sponsors

JESUS PANCAKE is a new 9-episode audio drama series from Artist Soapbox. Microwaves, family secrets, and the Potential of a Pancake converge in this zany dark comedy about a woman reckoning with her power for the first time. This irreverent series is not really about Jesus ...or pancakes.

What We're Listening To

From Us:
  • The latest episode of 70 Million takes a look into the rigged process of a Grand Jury indictment (and lack thereof for law enforcement) and the historically unjust function of the Grand Jury process through first-hand experiences of Dallas residents during the George Floyd protests in 2020.
  • How to Talk to [High Achievers] About Anything released the episode "Learning to Stand Up for Yourself", where nonprofit organizer Chandi Guntupalli shares her behind-the-scenes struggles of feeling dismissed and overlooked. Host Stevon Lewis delves deep into how to get comfortable in spaces that don't feel affirming.
  • This week on Latina to LatinaAda Limón is in conversation about her journey to becoming the 24th U.S. Poet Laureate. She shares the significant loss that made her reimagine her life and reinforced her refusal to allow others to shape her world.

Overheard on Podcasting, Seriously Live

Last week Stevon Lewis, a licensed psychotherapist, corporate consultant, speaker, and host of How to Talk to [High Achievers] About Anything joined to discuss growing your brand through podcasting.

Some great takeaways are:
  • Podcasting is an extension of the work that you do outside of it. The content you create should reflect your passions. This will also make your 'why' clearer and the information you share cohesive with your brand.

  • Find your lane, and stick with it. Do what you do and do it well by teaming up with people that complement your strengths and provide the correct positioning for you to showcase your skills.

  • Do NOT default to negativity! Remember that you've done things in life that have already made you successful. Your podcast is one of many new things you've tried and can succeed at.
Podcasting, Seriously on Twitter SpacesThank you to all of the guests and listeners who joined our Podcasting, Seriously Live conversations. LWC Studios will continue providing helpful tips and crumbs of wisdom to succeed in the Podcast and Media Publishing industry through our Podcasting, Seriously at Home On-Demand Videos, and Workshop Series
