St Andrews Film Society Daytime Group

Cousins (2021)
Thursday 24th November
12pm for a 12.30pm start
Wadambuk
St Andrews Community Centre

Entwines the very different lives of three Maori girls, cousins, through tumultuous decades, after one of them is taken from her family and raised in an orphanage.

The November screening will sadly be last screening for the long running day group unless we find a new faciltator for the group.

Dawn, our current coordinator, is busy with grandchildren and travelling so can no longer commit to coordinate the group. She will still attend when she can and will happily work with the new coordinator.

The group was set up for people who find it difficult to get to cinemas and want to see films that have recently been released to DVD.
There are approximately 25 members, with 12 people generally attending.  The films are screened on the last Thursday of the month, February to November, at 12.30pm.
The doors are open from 11.30am for anyone wanting a cuppa or catch up before the film starts.

The coordinator duties are:

- Work with the members to select a long list of approximately 20 films to chose the final 10 films from for the coming year.
- After preparing the long list, oversee voting, and prepare the final program, distribute the program to members, committee and Community Centre staff for promotion.
- Book the ten dates for the SACC film room.
- Send an email to members each month, a week before screening, as reminder of the upcoming film.
- Purchase DVD’S, book screening rights with the distributers and, as the signatory for the Daytime Group, pay the fee from the SAFS Day Group bank account.
- Ensure members complete membership forms and pay membership fee. (There is no fee for 2022 due to missed sessions during covid.)  The fee is $25 p.a. normally.
- Set up and pack away the community centre screen room and operate the screen and DVD player. Community Centre staff are on hand to assist with DVD player and screen operation. Members will put own chairs away, if able.
- Ensure there is milk and biscuits for each session.
- Be the Daytime Film Group representative on the St Andrews Film Society Committee.  This entails about four meetings a year and an AGM, and the pre-meeting preparation of a simple finance report and report on screenings and attendance.

Please contact us at the Centre for more information and to discuss further.
