A Letter From The Rector

St. Paul's Weekly Update

November 18, 2022

Dear Friends,

I’d like to take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving and share the following Thanksgiving prayer from the Book of Common Prayer.  Safe travels to all who will be visiting family and friends.
Almighty and gracious Father, we give you thanks for the fruits of the earth in their season and for the labors of those who harvest them. Make us, we pray, faithful stewards of your great bounty, for the provision of our necessities and the relief of all who are in need, to the glory of your Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

New Vestry Members
Congratulations to our newly elected class of 2025 vestry members, John Armstrong, Vickie Johnson, Karen Smith, and Brad Hirschy.  I look forward to serving beside them.

Invite, Welcome, Connect Leader
I am pleased to announce that Mary Kintz has accepted the new part time staff position of Invite, Welcome, Connect (IWC) Leader.  In this position, Mary will develop and implement a ministry that invites the seeker, welcomes the guest, and connects all to each other and our church’s ministries.  This ministry will also create pathways for new and established members to actively participate in parish life and service.  In collaboration with clergy, the IWC Leader also has teaching and training responsibilities related to this ministry.
With Mary’s proven leadership I am very excited to be working with Mary in this new initiative.

Adult Formation
Please join us at Adult Formation on Sunday, November 20th, to learn about Adverse Childhood Experiences and how Positive Childhood Experiences can diminish the impact of adversity.
There will be videos, stories from St. Paul's, and a discussion hosted by the Resilience Ministry.  The presentation in the chapel will start at 10:15 a.m. sharp!

Wednesdays in Advent
Please join us for a weekly Eucharist on the Wednesdays of Advent, November 30, December 7, 14, and 21, at 7:00 p.m. in the St. Paul’s Chapel.  This will be an informal, contemplative prayer time of engaging in conversation about the scripture readings followed by a simple Eucharist.
Christmas Poinsettias
The Christmas Poinsettia envelopes are now in the pews.  Giving a poinsettia that will decorate our altar and worship space for the Christmas services is a beautiful way to remember and/or give thanks for the special people in our lives.   The Altar Guild suggests a donation of $35 per plant.  Checks may be made payable to St. Paul’s.  Make sure the outside of the envelope is filled out with your name and the name of the person or persons for whom the poinsettia is being given.  Also note if the poinsettia is being given in memory of or in thanksgiving for that person.  All requests must be received by December 4 in order to be included in the Christmas bulletin.  The completed envelope may be placed in the offering plate or mailed to the church.
Sunday Worship Services
Sunday services are held at 7:30, 9:00, and 11:15 a.m.  You may attend in-person or online at 9:00 a.m.  If you cannot attend in person, please join us this Sunday for worship at 9:00 a.m. on Facebook Live.  You do not need a Facebook account to participate!  Simply click here at 9:00 a.m. Sunday for the livestream, or click here to see videos of previous services.
You may also go to the following web page for the parish prayer list.  Click the “Continue Reading” button to see the names.
