First-year student survey

First-year students are a vital part of our campus community, and we want to make sure we are creating a supportive environment, particularly during this transitional period. To do this effectively, we want to hear directly from students. First-year students were emailed a brief, five-question survey on Nov. 16 designed to provide insights into how we can best support students, particularly during their first year at Wake Forest. The data from this survey will help us understand first-year students’ needs and learn how we can continue to cultivate a caring community in which they can thrive. Class of 2026 Deacs, please check your Wake Forest email and take the survey, which will be open until Nov. 27.

Staying on campus for Thanksgiving? Important info re: hours of operation for dining and more

If you are staying on campus, see the Thanksgiving Hours of Service for campus dining, shuttles, university stores, mail services, building hours, and more. Be sure to know which dining venues are open when, and plan ahead for meals as needed. Note: All dining locations will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24.

Influenza A on campus

Student Health Service reports that flu cases are rising on campus and in the local community. Students are advised to get a flu shot if they have not had one already. Attending class while ill increases the risk of spreading influenza to others. If you have the flu, you should remain isolated from others until your symptoms are improved and until you have not had a fever (without using fever-reducing medications) for 24 hours. Please read the full message from the Student Health Service, as it contains important guidance for the campus community’s health.

We stand in solidarity with UVA and the University of Idaho

We stand in solidarity with our fellow students, faculty, and staff at the University of Virginia and University of Idaho following the tragic loss of life in their communities this week. If you have been impacted and need support, the University Counseling Center and Timely Care are available, and the Office of the Chaplain also offers care and support. If you are worried about a friend, classmate, colleague, or student on campus who is struggling or is engaging in concerning behaviors, make a CARE Team referral. CARE Team members provide caring outreach, support, and connection to resources on and off campus. Upon referral, CARE Team members will reach out to the community member to assess their specific needs.

Commencement speaker nominations

The Commencement Speaker Committee is looking ahead to Commencement 2023 and needs your help! Please submit nominations for commencement speakers through this form. Seniors, we especially want to hear from you! As you submit nominations, please note the criteria for consideration and fill out all fields.

Lighting of the Quad, Tues., Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. on Hearn Plaza (Upper Quad)

Lighting of the Quad is a formal celebration of the holiday season for students and the campus community. It also serves as an antidote to end-of-the-semester/pre-finals stress, and an opportunity for students to get out of their room and enjoy the holiday spirit in the Wake Forest community. It is also one of the University’s biggest festive traditions. Students will be able to light up the upper quad and enjoy musical performances, hot drinks, pastries, and more.

Wake Forest Lovefeast, Sun., Dec. 4, at 7 p.m

  • Join us: Let it glow, let it glow, let it glow! It’s a Wake Forest tradition to usher in the holidays with our annual candlelight service in Wait Chapel. Since 1965, we have gathered as a campus community for seasonal music, reflection and inspirational readings. Chapel doors open at 6 p.m., and the prelude begins at 6:40 p.m. Seating is limited. For more information about Lovefeast, visit lovefeast.wfu.edu.
  • Volunteers needed: Faculty, staff and student volunteers are needed to help prior to and during the event. If interested, please fill out this form.

Become a Resident Adviser

The Office of Residence Life and Housing is looking for creative, ambitious leaders unafraid to bring the full range of their experience and personality to support students in need of guidance, a listening ear, campus awareness and anything else that can create an unrivaled student experience within our residence halls. Learn more about this fulfilling opportunity by visiting the Resident Adviser web page.

Need a place to study? Visit Wake Study Spaces

As we approach finals, we want to remind you that undergraduate students looking for a place to study can use the Wake Study Space website to see reservable spaces as well as common areas in which you can study.

Attention Seniors: apply to graduate

If you are completing your degree requirements in either December 2022 or May 2023, apply for graduation now! If you have any questions or are unsure, please reach out to Leah Steele (steelel@wfu.edu) or Alicia Trent (trenta@wfu.edu) in the Registrar’s Office.
