Welcome to your December update. As another year draws to a close, we give thanks you to all our hardworking volunteers for keeping our charity operating; we meet two young entrepreneurs looking forward to a bright future with their solar installation business in Malawi; and we get ready to take bookings for our first events in 2023.

Elizabeth Jumbe and Moses Kamphinda are members of Chisomo Solar Contractors, one of 10 solar enterprises involved with the "Mtukula" project being delivered by our partner, Foundation for Education and Social Development. This pilot scheme provides vocational and business skills top up training for tradesmen and women already working in carpentry, tailoring, welding, and for the first time, solar repair and installation.
With more and more people turning to renewable energy, Elizabeth and Moses are confident for the future of their business. As their income grows, they plan to buy more tools and invest in transport to reach a broader client base.

Please save your tool donations until January

If you're having a turnout over the festive period, please save your donations for the Netley Marsh workshop until Monday 9th January 2023 when our volunteers will be on hand to help. We can accept a wide range of hand tools and power tools for trade, manual and electric sewing machines and haberdashery items. Take a look at our website for details.

Africa Programme Manager, Ash, and Head of Fundraising, Katie, recently met trainees enrolled on our vocational training projects in Sierra Leone. Amongst the hairdressing trainees is Isatu Kamara, who is looking forward to opening her own salon. To help more young people like Isatu gain access to life-changing training in 2023, please support our Winter Appeal.
