A Prayer for the Week
Shepherd of Israel, hear our prayer
as your Son heard the plea
of the criminal crucified with him.
Gather into Christ's holy reign
the broken, the sorrowing, and the sinner,
that all may know
wholeness, joy, and forgiveness. Amen.

Faith Formation - Study Passages for Nov 23rd

"On the Road to Bethlehem"
Lectio Divina for the Time of Advent

Like the children of Israel who await the coming of Messiah - the Son of David who will establish the Kingdom of God forever - we too must wait with expectation, every Advent season, for the coming of Jesus.

Join us for an Advent Lectio Divina where we will study four prophetic passages that foretell the arrival of Jesus, the Messiah.  Beginning on Nov 20, this weekly study will be held at two different times: Sundays after the 10:30 service, and Wednesdays following Church by Candlelight.
Board Game Cafe

Join us for a fun evening of board games tonight from 6:30-9:30pm.

We have a wide range of games for people of any age!  Whether you are into Snakes and Ladders, Clue, Apples to Apples, Sorry, Exploding Kittens, Ghost Blitz, Stone Age or Carcassonne, we have something for you.  Or bring your own favourite!

Snacks will be available; feel free to bring treats to share.
For Families
Christmas Pageant

The Christmas Pageant is back in person!  Kids are asked to come to Sunday school on Nov 20 to find out more about our plans.

Rehearsals will be every Sunday after that, in the afternoon.

The pageant will be presented during the 10:30am service on December 18.
Nursery kids, Church kids, & youth: We need actors, singers, dancers, and technical helpers. You don’t need to memorize lines, and everyone is welcome!

Grown-ups: We need stagehands, costume & prop wranglers, meal coordinators for our sleepover, and photo slide-show compilers.

Please email james@stgeorgesonthehill.ca or veronica@stgeorgesonthehill.ca to volunteer or to be added to the pageant mailing list.
Messy Church

Join us Fri, Dec 2nd at 5:30pm for our Advent Messy Church!

This month we will hear the story of Advent, eat dinner together, and help decorate the Christmas tree in the church sanctuary.

For more information or to RSVP, please contact James at james@stgeorgesonthehill.ca
Christmas Journeys
Sunday, December 4th at 4:00pm
Join us for Christmas Journeys, featuring the Principal Players of Sinfonia Toronto, Priyanka Gupta, Ran Kim, and the soloists and chancel choir of St. George's.

Tickets are available for purchase at the door or from Ran Kim following Sunday services.  $25.
Giving Tuesday Opportunity
Over the past 8 months, the men of Pints of View have been volunteering at ESS Support Services, a local not-for-profit agency that supports seniors who wish to live independently at home.

On Giving Tuesday (Nov 29th), you are invited to join them in supporting ESS by donating online to their Mobile Food Bank fundraising campaign.  The Mobile Food Bank delivers over 250 food hampers per month to vulnerable seniors who cannot access other food banks.

Donations will be eligible for matching (up to $5000) if they are made ONLY on NOVEMBER 29th.  Matching is first come, first served so we encourage you to donate early in the day!  See this flyer for more information.

Donate here on Tuesday, Nov 29th: https://www.give65.ca/esssupportservices
Out of the Cold Dinner Program
St. Margaret's Church

Once again, the St. George's-on-the-Hill "Dream Team" will be preparing dinner for those less fortunate at St. Margaret's Church on Monday, November 28th.  It is through your kind and generous food donations that we are able to provide shepherd's pies, coleslaw, buns, and dessert at that time.

The St. Margaret's "Out of the Cold" Program continues throughout the winter from October through to April.

The SIGN UP SHEETS for food donations will be in a folder located in Luxton Hall.  A week prior to our Sunday cooking, you will receive a phone call reminding you to bring your donated food items to the Luxton Hall kitchen before noon on SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 27TH, so that we can prepare the shepherd's pies later that afternoon in the beautiful state-of-the-art St. Margaret's kitchen.

If you have any questions, please contact Patricia Humphrey at patriciashumphrey@gmail.com or 416-445-8904

Faith Formation:
Study passages for this week

This week, we will take at the gospel reading for November 27th, Matthew 24:36-44, and its parallel readings: Mark 13:30-32 and Luke 17:26-27, 30, 34-35.

Join us on Zoom Wednesdays at 10:45am as we compare upcoming gospel readings to see how they are treated in each of the synoptic gospels.
This week, we remember those who have died, and those whose memorials occur at this time, especially:

Laura Grattan
Jean Bailey Hunt

Rest eternal grant unto them, O Lord, and let light perpetual shine upon them.  May they rest in peace and rise with Christ in Glory.
