National Academies Names Jacquelyn Gill, Former Governing Board Member, Award Recipient for Excellence in Science Communication
On October 12, the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine announced the inaugural recipients of the 
Eric and Wendy Schmidt Awards for Excellence in Science Communication. These prestigious awards recognize science journalists and research scientists who have developed creative, original work that addresses issues and advances in science, engineering, and/or medicine for the general public. Among the awardees: Jacquelyn Gill, recent ESA Governing Board Member and recipient of the 2022 W.S. Cooper Award for a study of seabirds in the Falkland Islands. Dr. Gill is recognized by NASEM for her Warm Regards podcast, one of the first to focus on climate, as well as for her science communication on Twitter. The winners will be honored during a recognition event and workshop on November 11 and 12 in Washington, D.C. Congratulations, Dr. Gill!
