Hopefully you've hidden some of last week's Halloween candy from yourself or the family! As time marches on, we have to look back at a whirlwind October that brought us a new City Councillor for Findlay Creek, new Mayor of Ottawa as well as a new FCCA Vice President! We also have some cool things to look forward to; a new school to be built in Findlay Creek slated for 2024/2025; new Local Business Partners; and more growth for Findlay Creek as stated in the New Official Plan.

After our Annual General Meeting on October 26th, we are excited to welcome our new Vice President of the Findlay Creek Community Association, Jacob Al-Faraj.

I recently moved to Findlay Creek with my wife after living in the Maritimes - Atlantic Canada. I was an active member in the community in Riverview, NB, doing volunteer work for Run for Women and Friends Foundation.

Findlay Creek and its surrounding communities are such vibrant and diverse places.

I am delighted to be connecting with you in my capacity as Vice President of the Findlay Creek Community Association. And encourage you to share your knowledge, ask questions, participate and become an integral part of this community.

- Jacob Al-Faraj

We would also like to take a moment to thank our previous VP, Charbel Saade, for his amazing contributions to the FCCA over the years. We wish him the best and look forward to seeing him out at our events in the future!
Local Business Partners

The FCCA would like to welcome Hunter's Public House and Vitality Physiotherapy and Wellness Centre as one of our trusted Community Partners for 2022! As you may not know, our trusted partners help us deliver events and help foster a strong community spirit in Findlay Creek. We cannot express our gratitude enough to these businesses for helping to shape our community so positively.
You’re invited to a webinar to learn the latest on Market Update & Inflation hosted by Ratul Dutta with special guest speaker, Stephen Pitts, CFA, Vice President, Portfolio Specialist at RBC Global Assets Management. A Q&A will be hosted following the discussion. To register: ratul.dutta@rbc.com

We would like to once again congratulate our new City Councillor, Steve Desroches; and re-elected OCDSB Trustee Jennifer Jennekens as well as OCSB Trustee Spencer Warren. We look forward to continuing to build great relationships with you all.
Ottawa Public Health Updates

Ottawa is seeing increasing respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) activity, particularly among children, and CHEO has flagged unprecedented volumes of infants and children with respiratory symptoms from various viruses. We are also seeing more COVID-19 transmission in the community as we enter the colder months. We predict that this respiratory season will be challenging.

The last three years have been incredibly difficult for everyone. While we have learned and adapted in many ways, our work is not over.

The good news is that vaccines are readily available in our community for both COVID-19 and flu.

The best way to protect yourself, your loved ones and the health care system is to stay up to date on all your vaccinations. This winter will be hard on our community as several respiratory viruses will be circulating simultaneously creating stressors on our community and our health care system.
