EVENT

Welfare and Architecture – A Bus Trip to Albertslund (DA)

16. Nov 14:00-16:30 / CAFx Halmtorvet 27

Join us on a bus out of town and down memory lane to one of the 20th century strongholds Albertslund South. A pioneering modernist new town, designed from scratch in the 1960s, it has since housed Albertans from cradle to grave.

Our guides: the artist Jakob Kolding, who grew up in Albertslund, will talk about the influence the place has had on his artistic work - and him personally. Architect and former partner in the design studio Vandkunsten, Jens Thomas Arnfred, will talk about the welfare village and the architecture of Albertslund South, which his father, architect Tyge Arnfred, helped to design. Jens Thomas will also talk about the 'close-low construction', which Vandkunsten continued to work on. Along the way, a resident will invite you into one of the characteristic courtyard houses.

Finissage: New methods for big challenges - Conversation with Jacob Lillemose (DA)

18. Nov 16:30-18:00 / CAFx Halmtorvet 27

Come celebrate the last day of the exhibition "Architecture and Extreme Environments" by David Garcia, researcher and professor from the master program of the same name at the Royal Academy of Architecture.

Architect Thomas Bøjstrup and curator and author Jacob Lillemose will be our guests for a conversation about working in and with the extreme as an architect and curator respectively. They will be joined by David Garcia live from Jakarta, the sinking capital of Indonesia, which is the subject of the field work he is conducting with his master students this year.

Lillemose is currently employed at the Medical Museum and is curator of the Danish pavilion at this year's Venice Biennale. He is also the author of the novel Architecture Zero (2022) about a world, where disaster is the new normal. Thomas Bøjstrup is a ph.d researcher at the Royal Academy of Architecture in Copenhagen and has been affiliated with "Architecture and Extreme Environments".

The event is free, and we will be serving a chilled CAFx drink. Sign up to secure yourself a seat.
