THE MIDTOWN CONNECTION
November 18th, 2022

Welcome to the Midtown Community Church newsletter! Here you will find information to connect with the people and ministries at Midtown as we seek to be renewed by Jesus Christ for the purpose of drawing people into community, growing as an authentic worshipping community, and sending them out to renew and create communities locally and globally.

FALL SERMON SERIES

9:15AM  2011 Ridge Road
This fall join us as we study the book of Ephesians and focus on the topic, One: Unity in a Divided World. In the past few years, we have seen a lot of division over a wide range of complex topics. It has negatively impacted our work, neighborhoods, families, and even the church. How does the Christian faith speak into this division? The book of Ephesians is essentially a blueprint for how to come together around the person and work of Jesus Christ. It is a field manual for growing closer to God and to one another. We hope you will join us as we explore what it looks like to become one, as God intended.

Worship with us in-person or via livestream on our YouTube Channel. Follow us on Apple Podcast! Search Midtown Community Church and subscribe.

Our Children's Ministry accommodates 9-months through 5th grade during the school year.
Happy Birthday Jesus Event (+ an opportunity to serve)!
Join us on the lawn on Sunday, December 11th following the service for a birthday celebration for Jesus.  This is a church-wide event and would love for you to join us for fun, fellowship and cake. We would be so grateful for help with this event. See below the volunteer sign up!

Did you know that Midtown supports Gateway Women's Care?
We are inviting the Midtown congregation to bless Gateway Women's Care, a local crisis pregnancy center that Midtown financially supports. Gateway Women's Care gives their pregnant clients diaper bags stuffed with goodies.  We can help them by purchasing and donating the baby items found on their Diaper Bag Supply List.  Please see the attached list.  We will collect the items at the Happy Birthday Jesus Party or you can bring the items to the Sprouts Building the weeks before and after the party.

Membership at Midtown
If you attended a recent Midtown 101 (our label for a prospective members class) and would like to pursue membership at Midtown Community Church, please click on the link here and fill out a membership application: https://midtown-church.org/about/what-we-believe/.  Once you have filled out an application, Lindsey or one of the elders will reach out to you.  If you wish to attend the next Midtown 101 class, please reach out to Pastor Lindsey at lindsey@midtown-church.org

How Do I Give Financially to the Church?
With a number of new faces at our church, we've had folks ask how they can give to the church. You can either give on Sunday mornings during the offertory, via mail, or the most common option is to give online where you can set up automatic or one-time giving.  For more details, check out our website here: https://midtown-church.org/giving/

Assistant Pastor Update
The Assistant Pastor Search Team has recommended a candidate to be the next Assistant Pastor for our church.  At this point, the decision is before the elders, and we are in the process of interviewing this man.  We hope to make a final decision on this candidate before the end of the year.  If we feel ready to move forward him, the plan will be to have the candidate preach one Sunday in the month of December before making a final decision.  Please continue to pray for the elders as we try to discern whether to move forward with this candidate.  We would like to extend our appreciation for the really hard and faithful work done by our Assistant Pastor Search Team, consisting of Warren Wright, Marissa Wallace, Madison Doss, James Stephens, Tim Dement, and Amy Leme.  They did much of the heavy lifting for this process, and we are incredibly grateful for their work.  Regards, Pastor Lindsey on behalf of the Session of Midtown Community Church.

New Deacons at Midtown
