God has called you and me to make disciples in challenging times!
Our days are filled with break neck change, new and unfamiliar expectations, unfair and unsafe circumstances, destructive leadership, disheartening values and laws, devaluing faith in the Creator and Savior, and maybe even some seeds of persecution.
Amy Carmichael was reflecting on the times in which God had called her to live by faith when she wrote, “If I am perturbed by the reproach and misunderstanding that may follow action taken for the good souls for whom I must give account; if I cannot commit the matter and go in peace and in silence, remembering Gethsemane and the cross, then I know nothing of Calvary love” (Amy Carmichael)
What about you and me? Are we consumed with the “reproach and misunderstanding” of making disciples in challenging times or are we consumed with the love of Calvary?
Are my thoughts and my emotions shaped and directed by God’s love for me and God’s love for this world?
Where is your head? What rules your thoughts? Where is your heart? Where is your treasure?
“You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.” Isaiah 26:3-4 (ESV)
“For the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, has said: “You will be delivered by returning and resting; your strength will lie in quiet confidence.” Isaiah 30:15
I’m thankful to be making disciples, in these challenging times, with you.
