Increase in COVID-19 cases

There has been an increase in cases reported in South Australia.
There are important things we can all do to slow the spread of COVID-19:
- Get a COVID-19 test and stay home if you are sick
- Stay up to date with your COVID-19 vaccinations
- Wash your hands
- Avoid sharing food or smokes

Updated eligibility for antiviral medicine
|
|
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who are 30 years and older with one additional risk factor and have COVID-19 can now get antiviral medicine.
Risk factors include:
- neurological conditions
- chronic respiratory conditions
- obesity or diabetes
- heart failure, coronary artery disease, cardiomyopathies
- kidney failure or cirrhosis
- living with a disability
- living remotely with reduced access to higher level healthcare
You can also get antiviral medicine if you are:
- aged 70 years and older
- aged 50 years and older with two risk factors
- aged 18 years and older with severe immunocompromise.
Speak with your health service about your eligibility for COVID-19 treatments before testing positive to develop a treatment plan.
Treatments are most effective when administered as soon as possible after testing positive, so it’s important to get a COVID-19 test when you start developing symptoms.

SA COVID-19 Information Line

The SA COVID-19 Information Line will be closed.
If you have COVID-19 and need health support, call the National Coronavirus Helpline on 1800 020 080. Clinical staff are available 24 hours, 7 days a week.
For support in your language, call the National Coronavirus Helpline on 1800 020 080 and select option 8 for free interpreting assistance.
If you test positive using a rapid antigen test, report your result using the online form on the SA Health website.
If you can’t use the online form or do not have internet access, someone else can report the result for you.
You can also report your result by calling the Communicable Disease Control Branch on 1300 232 272 9am to 4pm, Monday to Friday. If you test positive outside of these hours, report your result the next business day.

What to do if you have COVID-19
|
|
If you have COVID-19, there are important things you should do to protect the community.
- Stay home until you are well
- Wear a mask in indoor public places or on public transport if you must leave your home
- Tell your workplace and talk about when you can return to work. If you work in health, disability or aged care you may need to stay away from work for longer to protect other staff, patients, residents and clients.
- Avoid large gatherings and crowded indoor places
- Don’t visit a hospital, aged care or disability care facility for at least 7 days.
