On Sunday I paid a long overdue visit to Quirky Ales in Garforth. It was great to see Aaron behind the bar and to have a brief catch-up on things. |
I was very pleased to see that they had ‘Grimes’ Golden Gourd’ still available on draught and it did not disappoint. The pick of the beers for me, superb! |

| Last year, Amity launched their Amityfest beer festival. Good news is, it’s coming back for 2023. The dates to ring on your calendar are 30th June to 2nd July. This information came from Amity’s subscriber email. New in beer this week is a 6% ABV Belgian Blonde called ‘Lunar’. |

| From Horsforth’s trade mailout this week is news of a new cask beer called ‘Oasis of Tranquility’. This is a 4.1% ABV Dry-Hopped Pale made with El Dorado, Simcoe, Mosaic (yum yum!), Amarillo and Mandarina Bavaria hops. |

| I am a big advocate of Stout’s being an all-year-round beer style, but that doesn’t stop breweries pulling out the Stout specials at this time of year. Take Kirkstall for example, who have just released the delectable sounding 6% ABV ‘Sticky Toffee Stout’. |

| The steady stream of releases continue at Meanwood as this week they announce a re-brew of ‘Bubby Rascal’, a 4.1% ABV Raspberry Ripple Pale Ale. |

|
|
|
| The fourth release of Thought Bubble’s Patrons Project Series is out now from Northern Monk. 33.04 is a 7% ABV Double Dry Hopped India Pale Ale (IPA) brewed with Eclipse, Nelson Sauvin and Motueka hops. That rather wonderfully coloured can design is joined by something with a bit more of a traditional Northern Monk look as ‘Festive Star’ returns. This is the 2022 edition of their seasonal 5.2% ABV vanilla, cinnamon and chocolate porter. |

| It’s great to see the brewkit at Tapped is being used on a regular basis now. Joining the usual house lager is a new dark lager. |
|

| And, finally. Even though I’m sure they are busy setting up their new home, there are still some new beers from Tartarus to tell you about. First is a collaboration with Full Circle (Newcastle) called ‘Parkin at the Moon’. This is a whopping 12.5% ABV Yorkshire Parkin Imperial Stout. The one you will need to sit down for though, is ‘Wolpertinger’. This is a 4% ABV Helles Lager. Yes, FOUR PERCENT from Tartarus. I need a lie down. |
