Autumn 2022 Upcoming Important Dates

  • Nov. 18: Last day to drop a class without petitioning - Autumn Session 2
  • Nov. 23: Thanksgiving Break Begins - no classes, offices open
  • Nov. 24-25: Thanksgiving Break - no classes, offices closed
  • Dec. 7: Last day of regularly scheduled classes - Autumn Semester
  • Dec. 8: Reading Day
  • Dec. 9-15: Final exams
  • Dec. 18: Autumn Commencement 2022

We are seeking feedback about Ed Studies student programming

In an effort to provide relevant, impactful, and accessible co-curricular program options for graduate students in Educational Studies, we would like to hear from current students about the types of programs you'd like us to provide. This survey will be open from November 7-30, 2022. Survey participants will be entered into a drawing to win $10 vouchers that can be used at any vendor that accepts BuckID!

Join us for a Cookie Decorating Party!



The EHE Graduate Student Advisory Council, Educational Studies, Human Ecology, and Teaching and Learning are thrilled to sponsor the 2022 Winter Sweet Treats Cookie Decorating Party with Plenty O'Smiles (Plenty O'Cookies Website) on Thursday, December 8 from 6-7 p.m. in Ramseyer 136!

This event is open to all EHE graduate students. There are 30 available spots for this event and space is very limited. With that, please only register if you are absolutely sure you are going to be available to attend.

Supplemental GA Position - DLC Academic Coach

Are you interested in supporting your peers through a paid 10-hour per week position? The Dennis Learning Center (DLC) is seeking a Graduate Academic Coach for the Spring 2023 semester (and beyond, if able). Academic Coaches play a pivotal role in supporting the academic success of their fellow Ohio State students. Through 1:1 appointments, workshops, and group coaching sessions, you will have the opportunity to help your peers develop effective strategies related to learning, studying, test-taking, reading, note-taking, self-confidence, procrastination, motivation, time management, and resilience. Students interested in this position must already have a 50% GA appointment. This position is a 25% supplemental GA position. Work is mostly self-scheduled and completed remotely, with some on-campus meetings.

DEIJ Panel Discussion on November 16

The Kinesiology Graduate Student Council in Human Sciences is inviting all EHE students to attend a DEIJ panel discussion they are hosting on November 16 at 4 p.m. on Zoom. The panel is open to all EHE students and will focus on diversity and inclusivity in the workplace, statements, and interviews.

GTA Toolkit: Beginning Steps of Course Design
Hosted by the Michael V. Drake Institute for Teaching and Learning. This workshop will introduce participants to backward design, an approach to course design that focuses on producing student learning. Participants will have the chance to practice developing course goals and learning outcomes in an environment where they have the feedback and support of other graduate instructors at Ohio State.

Creating Connections for International Students in Educational Studies
Creating Connections is a program in Educational Studies where we create student-led spaces for traditionally underserved graduate student populations to come together and build community. These spaces can be focused on a specific topic of interest, can be an open forum to discuss student experiences, or can feature guest speakers…whatever you would like it to be! Student facilitators who lead the spaces will create a plan for each event tailored to the group. Sangeun Lee, a student in Counselor Education, will be the student facilitator hosting the meet ups for this autumn.

OUAB Grad/Prof Night at Dave & Busters
Hosted by the Ohio Union Activities Board. Join OUAB Grad/Prof at Dave & Buster’s for a night of fun, food, and games! The first 70 people to arrive will receive a $20 play card.
The Educational Studies student newsletter accepts announcements and events that pertain to the department’s graduate student community. The submission deadline is noon every Thursday.
