Dear <<First Name>>,

With the recent unfolding following the elections in Israel and the USA, as well as the storm in Florida and around the world, I thought we can all use some good news.

Some of you followed the story of Masoud, a young Afghan refugee I met in a refugee camp in Greece in 2016 who is still living there to this day. Some of you even contributed to his petition to the USA I submitted on his behalf. His petition, along with others’, were delayed when the demand by Ukrainian refugees peaked in 2022 following the Russian attack there. Masoud informed me this week that the Greek authorities, whom he engaged for six years, have finally granted him with asylum status, and a passport. A man has been given his life and freedom again. He is elated and so am I. Many thanks to all who supported and followed his story.

Further, Taha, a long-time Palestinian friend from the West Bank, has finally received his Israeli authorization card - meaning he can cross into Israel and be employed. He asked that I pass his request for work. Taha is a film maker & editor, and is also available for home repairs and maintenance (shiputzim.) His English is great. If you feel disappointed by the results of the election there, here is a direct way to support an individual who experiences direct underprivilege there. Please pass this to your relations in Israel who may be interested in employing him.

Finally, last weekend I moved to Peekskill, NY where I had a front seat for the spectacular lunar eclipse pictured on Tuesday (pictured above,) and began a chaplaincy internship at Westchester Medical Hospital.

This Saturday, I plan to welcome this new basecamp with practice, and you are invited to join me online in a mini-retreat of silent meditation, dvekus niggunim (contemplative hassidic melodies,) art practice and council practice.

Here is the link to the details and the registration.

Nov 12, 2022 10:00am-1:30pm Eastern Time (US and Canada).

Feel welcome to pass this invitation on to anyone who may be interested.

Thank you for reading, sending you care and appreciation,

Rami
