A person shovels snowIce and Snow Removal in the Business Districts
It is the Village's goal to keep the streets and walkways safe and passable.  Winnetka’s Public Works Department uses special equipment to remove snow from the sidewalks in the business district that requires a seven-foot clearance above the sidewalk to operate:  to effectively clear snow, all awnings must be retracted, and temporary planters, tables, chairs, and other fixtures must be removed from sidewalks. The Village is not liable for any damage to personal property incurred during snow removal operations.  Please watch for ice buildup on sidewalks: it is each merchant's responsibility to salt the walkway in front of their business after the Village has finished sidewalk snow removal operations.

Contact the Public Works Department with questions at 847-716-3568.
