Hello Friends and Neighbors,

The lovely fall flew by and somehow we are now already on to winter! As the snowy season kicks off, please take note of slick road conditions as you are out and about. And as the holidays approach, remember to support our local stores when checking off everyone on your list.

In city news, you may have noticed our Waste Water Treatment Plant making headlines lately. The City has been sharing updated information through our website, on social media, and with a press release to keep you informed. On October 24th, the Department of Justice filed a lawsuit against the City of Driggs’ WWTP for violating the Clean Water Act. We knew this was coming, as we have been troubleshooting our ammonia levels for years without success. We are presently working closely with the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Justice. Our goal is the same: to have an ammonia-compliant WWTP.

We will share additional information as the process continues. I want to make sure you, our residents, stay in the know about all the facts and what is to come. Please encourage others to sign up for our emails so as many people as possible can get up-to-date information on this ongoing subject. For more information, please visit driggsidaho.org/wwtp.

If you have any questions, reach out to Public Works Director and City Engineer Jay Mazalewski at 208-354-2362 x 2115 or myself at mayor@driggsidaho.org.

As we welcome the snow and the exciting holiday season ahead, wishing you all a wonderful Thanksgiving. Enjoy your time gathering with family and friends.

Mayor August

Don't get buried this winter...  Help our Snow Plowing Team!  Don't park overnight on city streets or parking lots. Please be considerate and avoid shoveling snow onto sidewalks or out into the street.  Our City Crew will do their best to clear city streets, but always use caution and be prepared for a big winter!

New Pickleball courts at Primrose and Buxton Ave! Thank you Teton Valley Pickleball Player’s Group, in particular Joe & Dot Burns, Alice Stevenson, and Jim Maloney. What an incredible example of locals making improvements happen by coordinating project details and raising funds for the new courts. It may be wintery now, but we know many are looking forward to spring games already!

Prepare:
  • Check to make sure pipes are properly insulated
  • Seal areas and close vents that allow cold air into your home
  • Wrap exposed pipes with insulated foam sleeves
When temperatures drop:
  • Use water frequently to keep pipes from freezing
  • Keep a trickle of cold water flowing from a faucet
  • Open cabinet doors to heat around pipes
  • Leave heat on at 50 degrees or higher
  • When you travel, have someone check your house periodically
If your pipes do freeze or burst, shut off the main water valve, call a certified plumber, and contact the Public Works team to have the connection valve shut off too. For water and sewer emergencies during business hours, call 208.354.2362 x2100. Only on weekends or after 5pm, call 208.201.8117.
