EVENING PRAYER AND REFLECTION ON CHRISTIAN FUNERALS AND BURIALS
Fr. Rector invites parishioners for an Evening Prayer on Thursday, November 17, 6:00 PM inside the church. After the evening prayer, he will give reflection about Christian funeral and burials. There will also be an invited guest speaker from a funeral home to speak about things to consider when planning a funeral.

This evening will be beneficial for everyone. You may consider attending.
CATHEDRAL YOUTH MINISTRY
On Sunday, November 20, the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, the Cathedral Youth Ministry will be inaugurated after the 11:00 AM Mass with Bishop Stephen Jensen.

November 20 happens to be the World Day of Youth.

Instituted in 1985 at the conclusion of the International Youth and in conjunction with Saint John Paul II's World Youth Day gatherings, this observance has taken place on Palm Sunday. In 2020 Pope Francis transferred the date to the Solemnity of our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe.

"Young people must say to the world: It is good to follow Jesus! You bring us the joy of faith and tell us that we must live the faith always with a young heart." (Pope Francis)

The Cathedral Youth Ministry will be led by Mark and Anne-Marie Macapinlac, parishioners and volunteer couple.

Please read details on the poster above.

IN SPECIAL REMEMBRANCE OF OUR DECEASED LOVED ONES
At every celebration of the Mass, all the faithful departed are prayed for (1) Universal Prayer/Prayer of the Faithful (2) Included within the Eucharistic Prayer.

However, this month of November we especially remember them. To assist parishioners in remembrance of our deceased loved ones a "prayer corner" has been prepared.  Parishioners may write the name of their deceased loved ones and place them inside the prayer box in front of the sanctuary. There are pens and papers* provided in the church foyer for you to write.  You may also light a candle by the alcove of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus or Our Lady of Fatima for your deceased loved ones.

*You may print this to fill-out with the names of your deceased loved ones: Remembering the Dead. Then, bring to church.

Fr. Rector will read privately the names of your deceased loved ones and pray for them.

You may also offer Mass for the souls of your deceased loved ones. You may do so by either asking Fr. Rector or contacting the parish office.

COPIES OF 'NOVEMBER THE MONTH OF HOLY SOULS 30 days of prayer'
Copies of 'November THE MONTH OF HOLY SOULS 30 days of prayer' are available for FREE in the church foyer. You may get your copy when you come to attend Mass this weekend. Those copies are from the generosity of the Catholic Cemeteries, Archdiocese of Vancouver.

NOTICE OF MEETING
Please be informed that on Monday, November 14, at 5:15 PM there will be a Parish Pastoral Council meeting in the hall, lower church.
RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS (RCIA)
There are four adults who are journeying towards full Christian initiation to the Catholic Church. As well, five children from Sacred Heart School are preparing to be baptized. Regular RCIA gathering will be every Wednesday in the hall, lower church. It begins at 6:30 in the evening. Parishioners are welcome to join Fr. Rector and the sponsors who have brought the inquirers to the Church. See you on Wednesday, November 16!

REMEMBRANCE DAY - NOVEMBER 11

Canadians pause today in silence to remember those who died in war and to pray for the victims of aggression and inhumanity throughout the world.

This is a day to pray for peace, to consider what we are doing as individuals, as a community and as a nation to bring God's peace into the world.

This is a day when a believing community should rededicate itself by prayer and action to the ideals Jesus gives us in Beatitudes.

GRATITUDE (Personal note of thanks)
A few weeks ago, at the weekend Masses, I have included a prayer for healing for my mother as she was rushed into the emergency.

I am including this personal little write-up as a way of thanking and updating you at the same time, as some of you have asked me about her.

My mother is now in a stable condition. She had suffered from pneumonia and her blood test revealed that, it is low in hemoglobin. She also had tested positive with COVID-19 and had finished the mandatory isolation. She is continuously regaining strength with the help of medication and extra care at our home.

My sincere gratitude to all of you for your prayers. I appreciate your thoughtfulness and gestures of care even if you haven't met her.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONSTANT SUPPORT!
As part of our activities to mark Remembrance Day , Sacred Heart Drama Club will present “Papillon-Butterfly” a short play based on the true story of a French family who sheltered a Jewish family during WW2. As a result of this kind and courageous act, a friendship developed between two young girls which lasted for the rest of their lives. There will be two shows on Monday November 14 in the p.m.

Sacred Heart School continues to carry out emergency drills so that we are all prepared for the unlikely event of an emergency.  With this in mind, a fire drill will take place this coming week.

The REAPS Composting Garden staff members offer wonderful educational programs for schools. This coming week Kindergarten students will participate in a “Trash or Treasure” workshop in which the students will explore how items can be recycled rather than having to be sent to the landfill.

Our Panther Spirit Day this month is planned for Friday, November 18. Students and staff will dispense with uniforms and enjoy an opportunity to spend the school day dressed in pjs or other comfortable clothing.

Kindergarten students will visit the Two Rivers Art Gallery this coming week to participate in a tour of the current exhibition followed by an associated art activity.
