Dear <<First Name>>,

"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. We will remember them."

On Remembrance Day, we honour the sacrifices made by generations of Canadians who served on the battlefield, and the families they left behind.

We also recognize those who returned home, with injuries both visible and invisible.

We stand alongside veterans to honour those who risked their lives to protect ours and build a more peaceful world.

Some good news, Highway 8 has re-opened after being destroyed for nearly a year. Highway 8 between Merritt and Spences Bridge is now open to all vehicle traffic We all grateful for the impressive work by crews and staff to reconnect people and communities along Highway 8 and across BC From the first day of the atmospheric river, people have gone above and beyond support each other and help us to reach this important milestone

Here are some things I'd like to share with you from the past week:
Book a Flu Shot Appointment For Childern

Flu season has arrived once more. As a mother myself, there are few things that come before the health and safety of our youth. So I encourage all parents to book a free flu shot and COVID-19 booster quickly and easily online for youth aged 6 months to 17 years old. An appointment can be easily booked at one of many pharmacies or clinics throughout BC.

You should also keep yourself safe! Book an appointment for yourself at a health authority clinic or pharmacy through the provincial Get Vaccinated system: https://www.getvaccinated.gov.bc.ca/s/

B.C. further expands cancer coverage for firefighters

The Province is amending the Firefighters' Occupational Disease Regulation under the Workers Compensation Act (WCA) by adding two cancers – pancreatic and thyroid – to the existing list of cancers and heart diseases that firefighters are at increased risk of developing.

“Firefighters are there for us when we are at our most vulnerable, and we need to be there for them when they need us,” said Premier John Horgan. “Their job places them in risk of exposure to toxic materials. If they get sick or hurt on the job, they deserve to have every support we can provide.”

New indoor shelter spaces open for winter weather

So far this season, the Province, through BC Housing, has funded approximately 2,080 temporary winter shelter spaces and more than 480 extreme weather response (EWR) shelters.

Most of these temporary spaces are open and the remainder will open in the coming weeks, giving people experiencing homelessness additional warm and safe indoor shelter options as winter settles across B.C.
