West Morris Church's mission is to Awaken Hope with the Transforming Light of Jesus.

Our vision is to partner with God to cultivate flourishing and unleash revival in West Indy.

Join us in this life-transforming, hope-filled Kingdom work!

Two are better than one because they have a good return for their hard work. If either should fall, one can pick up the other. But how miserable are those who fall and don’t have a companion to help them up!
Ecclesiastes 4.9-10 (CEB)

Worship Around the World - POSTPONED
Due to positive COVID cases among some of the main organizers, Saturday's Worship Around the World concert has been postponed until Spring 2023. While we're disappointed to have to postpone the concert, the decision was made with everyone's health and safety in mind. Please pray for full and quick healing for those who have become ill.

Building Relationships with Bread
West Morris Church has been blessed with a new partnership with Danny of White Rose Ministries. Every Monday we receive a truckload of bread products from him that we then have the opportunity to share with others. This week we delivered bread products to four little free pantries, two laundromats, two library branches and one apartment complex. And then Pastor Kristen spent some time at a busy intersection in West Indy giving away bread to any and all who wanted some! Come on Sunday to learn about the beautiful gift of generosity that happened during that time! If you'd like to be part of our bread deliveries and be part of building relationships with bread, we'd love your help! Contact Pastor Kristen (westmorrispastor@gmail.com or 317-464-7360).

Serving Others
The New Day Pantry & Thrift Shop will be open again on November 18 from 9am-12pm. Come experience the joy of serving others and be part of a transformative ministry. In addition to Friday mornings, as we prepare for a special Christmas outreach, we could definitely use some extra hands-on help and can be flexible with when! To sign up to help serve, contact Pastor Rachel (rmohlman@gmail.com, 317-677-2828).

Christmas Gifts with Angel Tree
West Morris Church is excited to partner with Angel Tree Ministries (a division of Prison Fellowship) to provide Christmas gifts for local families. But, even more than purchasing gifts, this ministry creates opportunities for us to build relationships and connect with families - all of whom are within a 1-mile radius of the church! Come learn more about this opportunity on Sunday at worship.

Second Sunday Supper
Stay after church this Sunday for our monthly pitch-in Second Sunday Supper. Bring something to share if you can. These meals are always a great way to connect, fellowship and build relationships.

Let's work together to make sure No One Eats Alone this Thanksgiving from our church family. Ask around, and see who might love an invite to spend the day with you.

Save the Date - Project Lydia Celebration Dinner
Our second cohort of Project Lydia has finished up. Four new innovators are busy developing and launching their new businesses. On Saturday, January 21, we will celebrate their accomplishments, and hear updates from Cohort One Innovators as well. You won't want to miss this encouraging, joy-filled night complete with dinner and dessert. Reserve the date now - January 21st at 6 PM - and watch for more details as the date gets closer. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

If you ever have any questions about following Jesus, what you read in the newsletter, see on our website, or experience at West Morris Church, I'd love to meet over coffee or lunch - my treat! Give me a call, text or email and we'll get a time set.

Advent & Christmas Preview

Advent begins in less than 3 weeks - can you believe it? Perhaps some of you might already have Christmas decorations pulled out, eager for the special season. At West Morris Church we are busy making preparations for the holiday season and want to give you a sneak peek of what to expect!

Advent Photo-a-Day
To help us stay focused on the reason for the season, and to help us prepare, anticipate & wait for Jesus' birth, we will be doing an Advent Photo-a-Day challenge. Each day throughout December, you'll be invited to take a picture that corresponds with a given theme, and then share it to social media. As you focus on the daily theme, we trust God will speak to you about it. And, as you share your photo each day, you'll be able to share about the hope and joy of the season with your friends and family! Stay tuned for this fun, interactive way to prepare for Advent!

Winter Fest - Dec 1
The great community event - WinterFest - will once again be held at West Morris Church. This incredible event is being put together by all our community partners and will be a Don't-Miss-Event. Help us love our neighbors well and be part of Winter Fest.

Blue Christmas Service - Dec 7
Christmas might be the most wonderful time of year, for some. But for others, Christmas can be a time of great sadness and despair. If you've lost family members this year, or Christmas simply is a painful time when previous losses come especially to mind, you're not alone. Please join us for our Blue Christmas service on Wednesday, December 7 from 7-8 PM. This will be a special service of remembrance and prayer as we acknowledge that sometimes Christmas makes us feel "blue". This would be a great gathering to invite loved ones, neighbors and co-workers.

Special Christmas Program - Dec 18
On Sunday, December 18, our New Day Kids and Students will be helping us celebrate the season with a special Christmas program. For more information, connect with Pastor Penny!

Christmas Eve Worship - Dec 24 at 4 PM
Our Christmas Eve service will be Saturday, December 24 from 4-5pm. We have intentionally planned the service to be finished before sunset for those who don't like to drive at night. Join us as we gather to celebrate Jesus, our Immanuel, who has come and "moved into the neighborhood with us!" (John 1.14 The Message version) This special service will be a great outreach opportunity, so be thinking about who you might bring with you. Even individuals and families who normally don't attend church are looking to do something together on Christmas and open to your invitation.  This worship gathering be a great way to usher in Christmas celebrations so don't miss it!

No Christmas Day Service
Throughout December, we will be sending home a gift for each household that can be opened on Christmas Day, on Sunday, December 25. We encourage your family - whoever is joining you for Christmas celebrations - to enjoy this gift together and use it to celebrate and worship together. We will not be having Sunday services on Christmas Day, and so encourage you to worship with us on Christmas Eve, and worship with your family on Christmas Day.
Come help serve NEXT Friday!

The Pantry is open on November 18 from 9am-12pm. Contact Pastor Rachel (317-677-2828, rmohlman@gmail.com) to get involved.

Everyone is welcome and needed!
Moving Day - Part 2

Clothing is ready to be moved over to Daniel Webster and in the New Day Thrift Shop.  If you have some time - and muscle - please connect with Margaret Miller (317-332-2864) or Pastor Rachel (317-677-2828).
Winter Fest is Coming!

Plans are being made for the 2nd Annual Winter Fest - a wonderful community event offered in partnership with all our community partners. Held on December 1st, you can be part of this special event. You can serve as a volunteer, sign-up as a vendor, or even dress up as a winter character. How will you be part?

We've heard from several of you that you miss Sunday School on Sunday mornings. Well, there's good and bad news about that.

The good news is that we have Sunday School - you're invited to join in, and those who attend LOVE it!
The bad news? Only that you're missing out if you don't join us!

Several other things also happen on Sunday morning at West Morris - check out the morning schedule:

9:30-10:15 AM - throughout the Church

  • Free breakfast & coffee in New Day Cafe (starting about 9:15 so grab it on your way to these other gatherings:)
  • Discovery Bible Study in lower level - study the scripture passage that will be preached on during our main service. Everyone welcome (and the elevator is available for use).
  • New Day Students on 2nd floor - youth in grades 7-12 are invited to an in-depth discipleship gathering in the new youth room on the 2nd floor.
  • Prayer & Anointing in sanctuary - join Geri and Sharon to receive prayer at the back of the sanctuary before the service.
  • Prayer Wall & Prayer Stations in sanctuary - have you spent time at our prayer walls or prayer stations? Engage the many prayer opportunities located around the sanctuary, share your own prayer requests, and pray for others.
10:30 AM - Worship in the sanctuary
  • Communion - join us as we celebrate communion together on the first Sunday of each month. We welcome everyone who desires to follow Jesus at the table.
  • Testimonies - where have you seen God at work in the last few weeks? Come ready to share your God-sightings every second Sunday of the month during our service.

12 PM - after Worship

  • Second Sunday Supper - pitch-in lunch in the lower level immediately following Sunday worship on the second Sunday of every month. This is a great way to connect with others around a table - just like Jesus did!
