There's Still Time to Help Elect Democrats!
Election Day is over, but there is more to be done as we await results of a few key elections and voters prepare for a runoff election for the Georgia Senate seat. So, while we are all ready to enjoy the holidays with friends and family and take a much needed and well-deserved break from political activism, let's give it a final push to help strengthen the already historic midterm election results.
Here's how you can help:
Donate to Rafael Warnock's Campaign: One of the best things we can do for the GA Runoff Election on December 9th is to donate to Senator Warnock's reelection campaign so that they have the necessary resources to take action and win in Georgia. Donate to his campaign here.
Write Postcards for Warnock:
- Join us for Action Hour at Nu Kitchen on Wednesday, November 16th at 5:30-6:30 to write postcards for Senator Warnock and pick up packets to write at home.
- Email indivisible.rise.newburyport@gmail.com for addresses if you have been writing with us remotely. Postcards are available for pick up at the usual location. The deadline for requesting postcards is November 16th, with a November 23rd mailing deadline.
Cure Ballots: The US Senate races in Nevada and Arizona are too close to call, and help is needed curing ballots to make sure that every vote is counted. Please sign up for a shifts here, with training offered at the start of each shift. There is a very limited timeframe for doing this, so please sign up now.
Keep in Mind:
In case you are reeling from the results of some of the Midterm Election losses (like Cheri Beasley, Tim Ryan, Val Demings, Beto O'Rourke, and Stacey Abrams), let's not lose sight of how Democrats defied the odds, polls, predictions and history. Consider that:
- Democrats had the best elections for governors since 1986 and lost fewer House seats than during any Democratic president’s first midterm in 40 years.
- We picked up a Senate seat in PA and still have a good chance of holding a 50-seat majority.
- Turnout was high, and young voters made a difference. This was particularly true in Michigan, where young voters helped Democrats win a blue trifecta.
- There was little violence and there are few claims of fraud, indicating that voters are turning away from extremism.
- Here in Massachusetts, Democrats won all of the state level seats. We elected Black, White and gay women to lead the state at a time when bigotry and misogyny are surging elsewhere in the country.
- Locally, we had some great state legislative wins.
- And, last but definitely not least, democracy has survived!

Please join I-RISE to celebrate our volunteers at a party in Newburyport on December 2 at 6-8:30. Email us to RSVP and for more details.
