Dear Parents,

Have you ever wondered how to use a conjunction? When to use semicolons? What sororal means? Before digging up your old English textbooks, try these 5 websites that offer helpful tools for writers.

1. Quizlet - A site (and app) that allows you to create or study ready-made virtual vocabulary flashcards. Students like competing in the Match and Gravity games for the best score.

2. Freerice - This website donates 10 grains of rice for every correct vocabulary question that you answer. Kids can learn vocabulary and be philanthropic at the same time.

3. Khan Academy - Their grammar section provides not only instructional videos but also practice exercises.

4. Grammar Girl - This site features quick and practical writing tips. It's worth listening to their podcasts as well.

5. Sentence Center - Our videos page has mini writing lessons and fun grammar music videos - including one where Justin Bieber teaches compound sentences.

Happy writing!

Sincerely,
Sentence Center
