HUM BEE FLORA OPEN GARDEN DAY

Dear Friend of Hospice Plett,

Date: Sunday 15th January 2023
Time: 11am to 5pm
Entrance: R150 per person, payable at the entrance gate. Children free.

On Sunday, the 15th January 2023, Bruno and Ulrike Baldzuhn will open their cut-flower farm to the public.

This magnificent farm which produces flowers and foliage for Harkerville Saturday Market, Food Lover's Market in Knysna and many florists in the Western Cape, has been in operation for 29 years.

Having cleared circa two hectares of alien vegetation on the new property, they acquired in 2021 adjacent to their existing property, visitors will find the new flower beds and interesting expansion. This arduous and time-consuming task requires the addition of copious amounts of organic material.

The Baldzuhns, custodians of this precious land have avoided monoculture and concentrated on growing all plants organically - NO chemical fertilizers or pesticides are ever used.

There are walks suited to everyone's needs; some short and easy as most beds are centrally situated; some are longer, for those who wish to view the protea ridges and to wander down through the forest to the large irrigation dam.

  • Ulrike will produce a map of the garden for visitors.

  • Sturdy walking shoes and a hat are a necessity.

  • Birders bring your binoculars.

  • Tea and cakes can be purchased and enjoyed at tables set up in the spacious garden.

Directions: Hum Bee Flora Farm, Airport Road (2,5 Km from N2 Turn-off at Saturday Market and 10 kms from Robberg Peninsula turn-off). Look out for Hum Bee Flora sign.

The PlettAid Foundation/Hospice Plett are most greatful to the Baldzuhns for their generous support.
