Remembering Miltos Makris
It is with great sadness that we report the passing of our colleague Miltiadis (Miltos) Makris. Miltos did his PhD in Economics at Essex in the 1990s, and helped the department as an external examiner, before joining us as a member of staff in September 2021. Read our full tribute.

We're an accredited Living Wage Employer
The University has agreed to become an accredited Living Wage Employer. The latest rate of £10.90 per hour, announced by the Living Wage Foundation in September, will be applied from 1 January 2023 for employees of the University, UECS Ltd and Wivenhoe House Hotel Ltd.
