Blue Christmas
Sunday 4 December at 4.00pm
Not everyone finds Christmas an easy time, particularly those who have lost loved ones, who are experiencing daily struggles and challenges, or who are alone. Blue Christmas is a quiet, simple, reflective 45-minute candlelight service – a space just to be, to recognise God’s presence and find his comfort and peace amid the busyness of the season. Do put this date in your diary and invite others you know who may find this helpful. Please speak to Carolyn if you have any questions.
Christmas
Details of all the various Christmas services and events planned at GBC can be found on our website.
We are planning a baptismal service in January when one of our young people will be baptised by full immersion. If you haven’t yet been baptised or would like to explore what baptism is, then please have a word with Carolyn asap.
If you don’t already receive the GBC weekly Pastoral Prayer email and would like to, please contact Carolyn on carolyn.keats@godmanchesterbaptist.org. It is a privilege to join in praying for the life of our church and lifting up those who have specific prayer needs. If you have a prayer request to add to this email, please get in touch with Carolyn or Jo Hitchins.
Godmanchester FoodBank will be collecting food donations at the Tesco Extra Store, in Sapley, from Thursday 1 to Saturday 3 December. If you can help please contact either Phil Jones or Jude Lechmere.

Thank you to all who contributed to the Christmas shoebox appeal this year. 36 shoeboxes will be collected on Saturday to go to needy families in Romania along with 3 sacks of blankets, baby clothes and equipment, extra hats, and gloves, and 12 pairs of brand-new leather shoes and boots. Our donations will make a huge difference to those who have so little. It’s wonderful to imagine what joy, encouragement and blessing our simple gifts will bring. Please pray for those transporting the items and for the churches locally in Romania who will distribute them.
Our library has re-opened
You will find some books in the Worship Area Foyer and some in the Small Hall, by the external door. Please write down which books you borrow - a booklet is provided for this purpose in both areas. You may keep the books for a reasonable period of time. Please contact Eileen Campbell (456522) if you require further information.
Help Needed
David Rootham is looking for a few people to help someone locally who will be moving from their current home into McCartney House shortly (date as yet unknown).  If you may be able to help with this, probably on a weekday in the daytime or possibly at a weekend, please contact David on 07884 281443.  If anyone has use of a van that would also be a great help!
Happy Birthday
Birthdays coming up in the next few weeks are as follows
9 December - Rachel Thurley
19 December - Liz Webb
24 December - Denise Hogg

If you would like to join the birthday scheme, and receive a card from the church family and friends, (no cost involved) please email Liz Webb at birthdays@godmanchesterbaptist.org with names and dates.
Sunday Parking
We ask that you do NOT park in East Chadley Lane or Lancaster Way and please also be careful not to park in front of the bus stop at the main road end of Tudor Road! Please check this separate e-mail which gives details of available free parking places in the locality and details of how to get a permit for the car park if you need one.
