Greetings, UVCB Mates -
Have you noticed what a super-duper flute section we’ve developed? A wonderful, rich, full sound, about as good as it gets!
Now adding to this fabulous section is our newest recruit, Erin Gates. She’s been eager to join UVCB for a couple months now while her flute has been being reconditioned. Erin lives in Northfield, VT and joins the growing number of commuters willing to travel some distance to participate in UVCB. Let’s make her feel welcome.
There’s something kinda special going on in the band. I guess we can call it ‘ownership’. It seems that just about everyone pitches in whenever help is needed, whether it’s setting up the rehearsal room, striking the setup after rehearsals, putting up the canopy on the parade trailer, distributing new music, odd tasks that need a volunteer or two… That’s just as it should be, and we can pat ourselves on the back. The other UVCB officers and I certainly appreciate it!
See you Monday at OSLC.

Dear UVCB,
I’m still gathering a repertoire list for a potential concert in early 2023.
But I simply want to observe how much fun it has been working with you, and how stoked I am to be able to program such rich fare as the Suite of Old American Dances, Homage to Bharat, Holst’s Moorside Suite, and the symphonic portrait of Cole Porter.
I look forward to honing these pieces (and others) with you, and to continuing our collaborative adventure!
all best,
Mark Nelson
