Our Sponsor-A-Family Drive Has Begun

An opportunity to help:

2022 Sponsor-A-Family Drive

The past few years SHoWLE has partnered with Lucas County Children Services to sponsor a family for the holidays.

This year we will be sponsoring Logan, a 2 year old African-American who needs learning toys and books. He wants toys like Mickey Mouse, Paw Patrol, PJ Masks and spider man. His sizes are 2T for tops and bottoms and he wears a size 6 shoe.

Logan's caregiver is Damario, a 30 year old African-American who needs appliances like a mixer, air fryer, and/or TV. His sizes are 32 for bottoms, M for tops, and he wears an 8 1/2 shoe.

There is no hard and fast rules for donating but we like to try to get them somethings they need and want.

Bev is heading up our efforts again this year and she will have details later about when the deadline is, where to drop off the gifts, and if she will be having a wrap party again.

In the meantime  feel free to start gathering donations for the family. You can also donate money which would be used to purchase gifts. Just use our donate page on the website and let us know that is what it is for when you submit it. Or you can send us a check or money order to our address PO BOX 6433 Toledo 43612

LCCS also allows us to donate gift cards if you would rather donate one to the family.

This is a group effort and any contribution is appreciated. We also may need someone to drop off the gifts downtown on the deadline date.

If you have any questions send us an email or call Doug at 567-215-2694
*Note* Some ask why does a Humanist group help out only during the holidays when people need help all year long?

That is true. Some people in our community need help all year but we are still a small group and the Sponsor-A-Family program is a good way our small group can make a good impact.

We anticipate and have ideas for year round action as we grow larger and have more people interested in helping. We much prefer doing something limited and doing it well than promising to do something larger and not completing it or doing a mediocre job.
