GA & WORKSHOP IN BRUSSELS

The international consortium of CIMPA met in Brussels for the third General Assembly of the project. The meeting, hosted by EuRIC, took place on 2 November. CIMPA partners also gathered the members of the Advisory Board, and collected feedback on the research and activities. Some preliminary results, including the characterization of waste, sorting schemes and physical and mechanical recycling solutions were presented on a public workshop on 3 November.

NEW RULES FOR PACKAGING

The European Commission has published a proposal for a Regulation on packaging and packaging waste. This proposal has three main objectives. First, to prevent the generation of packaging waste: reduce it in quantity, restrict unnecessary packaging and promote reusable and refillable packaging solutions. Second, to boost high quality recycling: make all packaging on the EU market recyclable in an economically viable way by 2030. And finally, to reduce the need for primary natural resources and create a well-functioning market for secondary raw materials, increasing the use of recycled plastics in packaging through mandatory targets

Several CIMPA partners will be present in this fair, and EuRIC will have a booth to promote the project.
