Practical Steps Charities can take to Innovate and Thrive

Download the Seven Steps to Take Today tip sheet and discover the practical steps you can take to build resilience at your charity.   Research from the Status of UK Fundraising Report 2022 shows that 79% of nonprofit organisations in the UK today are concerned about the economic situation leading to fewer donations in the next 12-18 months, so we’ve taken a look at the practical steps that charities can take to innovate and thrive.

Financial forecasting in the cost-of-living crisis The ins and outs of the cost-of-living crisis are difficult to predict. It is a time of great uncertainty for the charity sector, as donors look likely to pull back donations and user demand looks likely to rise. That presents a huge challenge to the charity sector, which will prove tough to meet. Read the full blog post here.

Double your defences with the COVID-19 AND FLU vaccines this winter

Q&A about Flu vaccines

What is flu? Flu is a serious virus, killing an average of 11,000 people every year in England, with thousands more needing hospital treatment.  Getting the vaccine is the best way to protect those who are most at risk from becoming seriously ill and to prevent hospitalisations and deaths, so it is critical that everyone who is eligible gets vaccinated.
Are we more vulnerable to flu this year? Different strains of flu circulate each year. Flu is more likely to be in circulation this year as there were fewer cases last season. This means there is less immunity against last year’s strains in the population and they could continue circulating this year along with the new strains. Also, as social interactions have increased, we anticipate that there will be an increase in cases of flu, RSV, and norovirus this winter, as well as cases of COVID-19.
Who is eligible to have the free flu vaccine? This year, over 33 million people are being invited to receive a vaccine in order to increase protection to the population and reduce pressure on the NHS. The programme has been extended to those aged 50-64 years and secondary school children in years 7, 8 and 9.
The vaccine is the best way to protect against flu. Hygiene is also an important way to prevent spread.
