Merry Christmas from The Hills Shire Council
 
We want to take the time to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Christmas Trading Hours
Over the Christmas and New Year period, Council's services and programs will operate at a reduced rate, with some closing temporarily over the holiday break. However, Council’s After Hours Call Centre will operate during this period to provide limited customer services for customer requests and emergencies. Christmas Stories & Songs With Emily Who
Award-winning Australian children's singer, Emily Who, is coming to the Pioneer Theatre, on Monday 19th December. Gather the little ones and and enjoy Christmas stories, carols and some dancing too! For more information and to purchase your tickets, click here.
Illuminate The Hills
We are lighting up Roxborough Park Rose Garden with thousands of twinkling fairy lights as part of the Illuminate The Hills at Christmas event, from 15 - 27 December. In addition to the lights, the very talented Blackout Theatre carollers will be popping up and singing your favourite Christmas tunes on the 15, 16, 17, 23 & 24 December, from 6:30pm - 9:30pm amongst the roses.

Cooee Mittigar
Don’t miss your chance to learn more about First Nations people, particularly the Dharug people, at our special Cooee Mittigar exhibition, which will be available at Castle Hill Library in the Local Studies Cabinet up until 22 January. You will also learn about the process of making an award-winning picture book! For more information, click here.
Library fines waived 
There's still time left to return your late library books to your local Hills Shire Library without receiving a fine. The Mayor's Library Fine Amnesty is running up until December 16 and includes waiving library fines in exchange for non-perishable food item to support those who need a helping hand. Donations will be given to Anglicare for their Mobile Community Pantry. For more information or a list of appropriate food to donate, click here.  

 

Farmers Markets
Enjoy fresh fruit and vegetables, artisan bread, baked goods and so much more at The Hawkesbury Harvest Farmers and Fine Food Markets this Saturday the 10th December at Castle Hill Showground. For more information, click here.
Holiday Storytimes and Workshops
The Hills Shire Library Service will be hosting special storytimes and school holiday workshops for kids this December and January. Ranging from the Library Discovery Tour to the Brick Kids event, as well as the Summer Reading Adventure, Cartooning Workshops and Starting School Storytimes, there's plenty on offer to keep the kids entertained these school holidays. Food for Wildlife Project 
Join us and WIRES this Saturday 10th December, from 10am to 1pm, at the Community Environment Centre, in Annangrove, as we help to grow food for sick, injured and orphaned local wildlife. This working bee is a great opportunity to learn about native gardening, local plant species, local wildlife and to have a laugh and connect with locals!
