Webinar on "The latest dietary guidelines for obesity and diabetes management" - Watch on-demand

Yesterday evening we held an extremely insightful webinar on the latest nutritional guidelines for obesity and diabetes management, including the role of sugars and low/no-calorie sweeteners, that was supported by the International Sweeteners Association.

During this webinar, we heard from our expert speakers, Dr Antonis Vlassopoulos the European Medical Nutrition Therapy guidelines for adults with overweight and obesity and Dr Odysseas Androutsos on the Medical Nutrition Therapy Guidelines for children with overweight and obesity.
These guidelines will be officially launched on December 15th, 2022 and more practical recommendations for everyday practice will follow up.
Last but not least, Dr John Sievenpiper went through the clinical practice versus public health guidelines on non-sugar sweeteners.

Rewatch or watch the webinar on-demand.

The EFAD Budapest Resolution now officially translated in Italian

At the 33rd EFAD General Meeting this past October, the Budapest Resolution was issued and endorsed by 22 EFAD Member National Dietetic Associations.

The Budapest Resolution stresses that everyone has the right to adequate food and to be free from hunger, in line with the International Declaration on the Human Right to Food, and strongly recommends that dietetic care should be an integral part of nutritional care to ensure that no one is left behind.

Being the pan-European organization for National Dietetic Associations and for Higher Education Institutions that train dietitians, we are able to lead or make significant contributions to European, national and local action plans regarding nutrition and food.

And for that, we are very proud that the Budapest Resolution is now officially translated into Italian by the Italian Scientific Association for Food, Nutrition and Dietetics.

Updates on EFAD Projects

A survey on coffee consumption, conducted by EFAD and supported by the Institute of Scientific Information on Coffee, indicated that coffee is a popular beverage throughout Europe, with dietitians across Europe reporting that the majority of their clients consume coffee regularly.

The aim of this survey was to:
Understand the general views of European dietitians in relation to coffee consumption and health
Understand the attitudes towards coffee consumption and health amongst their patients/clients
Identify what advice dietitians currently share with their patients/ clients on the role of coffee consumption
Identify views on the current awareness of emerging evidence into the associations between coffee consumption and non-communicable diseases

We are really happy to announce that 520 survey participants took part in the prize competition and will get a chance to win 500€ for the 14th EFAD conference (fee + travel expenses). Currently, EFAD’s jury is reading all your very inspiring responses to the competition question: “Why would you like to attend the 14th EFAD Conference 2023 and how this experience will help you become a better practitioner?”
We expect to announce the winners in the first months of 2023. Thank you for your huge interest!

Principles for Evidence-Based and Sustainable Food
System Innovations for Healthier Diets

Local, regional, and global food systems are unable to provide consumers with nutritious and affordable diets.

In this review, we underline the critical role of innovation within the food system transformation discourse. We aim to define principles for implementing evidence-based and long-term food system innovations that are economically, socially, and environmentally sustainable and, above all, aimed at improving diets and public health.
