Dear Holy Cross Families,

During this season of Advent, we have been starting our days with a special school-wide Advent prayer that invites students to seek quiet spaces to hear God’s voice and quiet moments to help prepare our hearts for Christ’s coming.  We purposefully take a few moments of silence before ending the prayer and this has become one of my favorite parts of the school day.  With nearly 360 students this year, moments of silence and stillness are hard to come by!  However, during the morning prayer, the stillness that comes over the school is noticeable and inspiring, knowing that we are inviting the Holy Spirit to fill our classrooms, fill our hallways, and fill our hearts.

While we enjoy that stillness each morning, we also know that December will be a very busy month!  We will celebrate St. Nicholas Day, the Immaculate Conception, Advent Reconciliation, Our Lady of Guadalupe, a Christmas Musical Program for grades K-2, and our beloved Angel Mass…all before Christmas Break, which starts on December 23rd!  Please see below for dates, times, and ways to get involved in these many celebrations.  I pray this Advent season is full of blessings for you and your families.

Ways to be involved:

  • Thursday, December 1st - Stay and Pray in the church 8:00 -8:15 a.m.

  • Thursday, December 8th - join us for the Immaculate Conception Mass 8:30 a.m.

  • Sunday, December 11th - help prepare for Our Lady of Guadalupe celebration, sign up to help HERE

  • Monday, December 12th - join us for Our Lady of Guadalupe Mass 10:30 a.m. and fiesta following in the gym!

  • Thursday, December 22nd - join us for the Kindergarten Angel Mass 8:30 a.m.

Have a great week!

Queridas familias,

Our Advent Giving Tree is now up in the back of the church, inviting you to take one or more tags and, in doing so, to make a difference in the life of a child in need this Christmas season. This year we are collecting multiple gifts for twenty children… This year we also have tags for our newly-formed Walking with Moms in Need ministry, in order to stock a supply closet with baby items for moms in need who might reach out to us for support. We also have some tags for the most requested items that people who approach Catholic Charities throughout the year are most in need of… Please place them at the Giving Tree by next Sunday, December 11th , or bring them to the parish center by Monday, December 12th . Thank you for putting into action the love made incarnate in the birth of Jesus, the love which we as Christians are called to imitate and share.
